Custom armor overwriting vanilla

I already posted this topic in adult skyrim general but I haven't gotten any help with it. I also posted it on the mods page but no help from there either.

 

I'm trying to install the remodeled armor by ChronoTrigger77 but it's not working right. I installed the standalone version which keeps all the armor the same, but you can then take it to a tanning rack and make it the modded version. My problem is even though it shows up on a tanning rack, all the vanilla armor is being replaced when it shouldn't be. 

I installed it through NMM, and I also tried using MO but that didn't work either. There is no way to install it manually, at least for the newest version.
