zzz72w3r Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 All I did was removed a vanilla iron dagger from NPC's items with Tes5edit from a simple follower mod but somehow the new esp resulted in CTD when starting Skyrim. The only difference with the two esp is the original working version has a vanilla dagger in items while the CTD version has nothing. The follower mod is just a simple one with no quest, script or custom voice. EDIT: Removed the dagger using CK and no CTD. esp where the dagger is removed using CK appears identical to the one removed with Tes5edit, yet the Tes5edit esp CTD.
Heromaster Posted March 14, 2015 Posted March 14, 2015 There was probably a reference alias to this dagger which you haven't deleted with TES5Edit. If you delete items within the CK it also deletes all references towards this item.

Tes5edit author suspects that the author of the follower mod probably used something else besides CK to modify the esp. When an item is removed from inventory COCT count should be updated but it did not in this case. No more CTD after I manually changed COCT with Tes5edit as well. Apparently CK does some unpredictable stuff when creating esp. There is nothing Tes5edit can do in this case because COCT updates correspondingly when they tested with vanilla NPC's inventory item.
