gokuzeny Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 Hi guys I have been playing skyrim a while now and have decided to start modding it, so I got a bunch of popular mods from lovers lab and the nexus, after installing them i ran skyrim and it loads fine but if i load a save game it crashes as soon as it finishes loading, and if i start a new game the intro runs without problems right up till all the intro text finishes then i get a lovely ctd, so I want to try to fix this without reinstalling skyrim so heres my load order, had to take 3 screenshots lol.
SummGai Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 sounds like this issue is happening a lot lately, what i suggest is to get wrye bash, its a more technical mod manager and can tell you when you have and which files are corrupted or ghosted or someething, and how to fix it
RogueMage Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 I recognized you have the patch for the hires-packs checked but not the hires packs themself. That won't work. Uncheck the patch as well and try again. Further thoughts: Ever changed uGridSize or any other Ini-Changes? I don't know if BOSS works again after the load-order change of Bethesda, but BOSS shows up such things. Maybe you should try it.
gokuzeny Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 oh man totally forgot about the high res mod patch -facepalms- will try that, also I would use wrye bash but i tried it in oblivion and it confused the hell out of me so I got rid of it. And I always use BOSS
gokuzeny Posted March 6, 2012 Author Posted March 6, 2012 ok I disabled the hi res mod patch and still the same thing occured, any other suggestions would be welcome, I'm running out of ideas to try, also I may have to give wrye bash another try, would appreciate someone pointing out a good, easy to follow guide for it or even teaching me themselves.
RogueMage Posted March 6, 2012 Posted March 6, 2012 In the last years (starting with morrowind) I learned not to change/install more than three things/mods at a time. If your game crashes then, you have your suspects and can uncheck them. Then check them one at a time. With this mass you have already installed this is a Sysiphean task. But we can still guess: 1. Make a backup of your skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini (/MyGames/Skyrim). Delete them and start Skyrim. This will recreate the inis. Try if it had any effect. 2. Deactivate the Extended Hair Slider mod. 3. Missing String-Files result in immediate CTD. Check all mods with Stringfiles. I suggest uncheck all and try if you get an CTD. 4. Have you had Tera Hair running before? If no, please deactivate Tera Hair and Fix and try.
gokuzeny Posted March 7, 2012 Author Posted March 7, 2012 tried deleting the ini files and that worked but then once i got to the character creation it froze eventually every time, I found an interesting work around though, by using this mod http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/downloads/file.php?id=9557 , i had no trouble making a character and then continuing to play the game, so it seems my mod combination doesn't like skyrims original start. will see if it was just hung up at the original start or if i run into other problems in the next few days, so far so good though.
RogueMage Posted March 7, 2012 Posted March 7, 2012 'Alternate Start - Live Another Life by Arthmoor' is quite nice. Using it myself. It is not compatible with one of the survival mods (THS - Thirst Hunger Sleep) and all mods that require the finish of the original startquest as it changes it and so the stages are different as well. Should one of your mods not fire you know why
