Guest marieruth Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 I recently got back into playing around with Blender, and I made a quick candy bar mesh I know that normalmaps are used for giving textures depth, but the two-headed bear is the only thing in the diffuse map that has detail in it for the normalmap plugin in GIMP to "notice". I tend to have only sandy looking patterns, and I want my mesh to have the shiny candy bar wrapper look. I tried editing the specular effects in Blender but the mesh is bright, not so much shiny. I'm looking for some suggestions on how to improve the solid colored areas of the wrapper to make it look a little more real, and 'apart' of the New Vegas world... Oh and does anyone know how to get the edges of the wrapper to have that rippled effect like some chocolate candy bars have? I'm not all that handy with blender to use the Knife tool intricately...
kingkong Posted February 27, 2015 Posted February 27, 2015 i do not see were is the probleme with selecting the edge vertces and simply you subdivise than just after you select 1 vertice on 2 and pull down than selecting the seconds to pull up. if you have difficulties with blender to do this effect it is not so importante, but nice to see from a free camera . the most importante are textures ,but in blender you can not see if the texture has any normalmaps effect as it only load the image.dds . you need Gimp / photoshop, were you can give the image a 3d shadow effect (you need some paintings notions . than you make the normalmaps and you select the level of alpha for shining effect or non from 255 to 0.
