Maref Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 So recently I've been able to get most of the mods I want into my game fine, a few crashes but been able to fix them but mods I download from here I struggle to understand. You see I'm very used to the nexus mod manger and while it seems simply to open files and place them in the data folder it doesn't seem to work for me (maybe I'm doing it all wrong?) I'm not doing anything other than placing the entire extracted download into my data folder in Skyrim, nothing else in it but this doesn't seem to activate/register my mods so could somebody help me with this? Sorry of this seems noob-ish.
Guest Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 For one USE MOD ORGANIZER it will save your soul!!!!! Well when downloading mods the folder structure has to be set a certain way so say you download SexLab when you look into the ZIP file you should see the structure like this: Data (folder) and inside that folder there should be the .esp or .esm file + other folders such as scripts, textures, meshes, seq etc. If its not like that in NMM it wont work because the data folder isn't the top folder, so when you install a mod with a wrong folder structure for instance: Sexlab (folder)> Data (folder) and inside folder .esp .esm It wont work because the data folder isn't the top folder.

Right I am understanding some of that but I'm still a little lost with it. Sorry for the hassle but it's best broken down into small steps of what I should be doing.
Guest Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 I'll try to be more clear. Now when your mod manager installs a file it will install exactly as seen here and these files will install into your data folder NOW when you go into your skyrim data folder what do you see? You will probably see something like the ➊st image here, you will see esp/esm files and folder structures similar to as shown. When your mod manager sees the ➋nd image folder structure it sees the data folder as the top folder and that works as well because it recognizes the structure and will take the files in that folder and copy them to your data folder. Then when your mod manager sees the ➌rd folder it has no clue what to do so what it will do is install the folder ([CBBE] LeatherBound Huntress Armor v2.3) directly into your data folder which will obviously have no affect because within that folder is the files needed at the top level. HOW YOU FIX NUMBER ➌ Move the files from that 7zip/Winrar/Winzip file to your desktop, look into that folder find the files and replicate either image ➊ or ➋ and place them back into the file. do you get it? Let me know I can even walk you through via teamviewer if you prefer.
Guest Posted March 2, 2015 Posted March 2, 2015 BONUS Now when you see this structure you will probably be a bit lost but this structure is set up for an installer if you notice the fomod folder that folder includes the installer and each folder you see is options for the installer to pick files from depending on your choices, But the same applies here depending on your mod manager these files must be on top.
