Make vanilla look like a custom set?

Hey, i wonder if it's possible to somehow make a vanilla set of armor (specificaly, dragonscale armor) to look like some armor mod?

It's a little sad that it's so many great armor mods, but they are all useless in the way that they tend to be cloth with 0 defence, which kind of ruins it for me.

 

Is it as simple as to find the location of that armorset ingame and change it's files to the same as a custom set, or do i have to do something else?

I also do know about mods that ''skimpify'' the vanilla set's, so no need to request that

Yeah, it can be as simple as finding the meshes and textures of a particular armor set, then taking the custom meshes and textures and renaming them to the vanilla values. That's what replacers do.
