jupiterberries Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I've made several follower mods in the past but none were ever standalone and always required other mod assets to work. The way I do it is simply make the follower appearance in RaceMenu, export the head, go to CK and export the facegen data, then use NifMerge to merge my Chargen .nif file with my CK .nif file. Essentially, it's the steps listed out in the wiki: http://wiki.tesnexus.com/index.php/Using_a_face_made_with_Chargen_Extension_on_an_NPC_for_Skyrim Too bad the guide doesn't say anything on how to make a standalone custom NPC... That's what I'm trying to do now, .and so far I've managed to do all the necessary editing the CK My follower depends on only two mods, ApachiiSkyHair and Eyes of Beauty, both which I've already duplicated and re-directed file directories in the CK so the assets can be standalone. Now the problem comes when I try to merge the Chargen .nif file and generated CK .nif file. Loading in NifMerge, I can see the new eye and hair names don't match with the one in the Chargen. So if I try to merge, I will get the gray-face bug instead. So how am I supposed to get around this now? Seems like the only way now is to edit the .nif files directly in NikSkope which is where I'm totally lost at, since I'm a stranger on how to work with NifSkope. If anyone could provide some help on this, I'd greatly appreciate it. Here's some comparison pics on the two NIF files: Nifmerge generated facegen file Chargen file I need to merge
ItalianDragon Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 If I recall correctly from what I saw ages ago, to make an NPC standalone you have to make a copy of all the assets it uses to be well, an NPC,I suggest that you google around a bit to find a few tutorials to help you achieve that with a step-by-step process. In all cases good luck :!
TheDriedFinger Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 http://www.loverslab.com/topic/38942-making-custom-followers/ My discussion on it. Use natilde's tutorial to help you add the custom body and hands (and hair) only, then let the facegendata take care of the head mesh.
