koocamunga Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Decided to check out what the console was capable of today and found out that you can do some pretty funny things with it. Example. http://www.xfire.com/video/54dfe3/ (sorry i can't get it to play in a window here >_< )...and xfire sucks for video recording
Silvist Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 ROFL! That was hilarious! This may sound like a silly question, but for some reason I can't seem to use quotes in console mode. I'm thinking its probably because I'm on a laptop. I may have to try an external keyboard, for some commands that require quotes. Any ideas on this? One command I really would like to know is how to find base_id for npcs with the console. I hate having to alt tab to find info out that "should" be in the help "blah" 0 command for the console. I guess getbaseid would be just to easy a command for bethesda to make @_@ I came across an interesting one that was "bat", which I guess allows you to make a series of commands in notepad to run at once. I'm actually amazed at how many codes there are out there. The wiki's don't even come close to what's fully available. Speaking of which is there some place you get your codes from?
koocamunga Posted February 28, 2012 Author Posted February 28, 2012 I read something about the not being able to use quotes in the console somewhere but didn't pay much attention to it since I don't have that issue. I'm using the 1.4 beta patch so that may be why. If you don't find it by the time I wake up in the morning I'll find it for you. As far as the codes go, I used this page http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Enchantment_Identification_Codes *EDIT 2/28/2012* Well I looked around a bit and found only a few complaints from people looking for ways to get around the quotation usage to add specific armors/items to their inventory, nothing about why the quotations don't work. All I can say is I'm running the 1.4 beta patch and I don't have that problem as you can see in the video. If you didn't download it, I suggest giving it a try.
Silvist Posted February 28, 2012 Posted February 28, 2012 Yeah I'm running 1.4.21, which is prior to the beta patch they just released. The reason I don't upgrade to beta, besides possible bugs. Simply is if I do some of my plugins will not work, until a patch is released. Honestly I was fine with the first release of skyrim, where I could run tesv.exe without steam attached to it lol. The only thing that forced me to upgrade was some eventually bug that I some how caused by tampering to much with the game. What's even odder, is I can use other symbols like ; : , . ? and the like no problem. I recall consoles of other games, such as bioware, where keys didn't work properly while in the mode. Lol I wish I had a keyboard to attach to my laptop to test it, but it seems my old keyboard is "too old" (as in I don't have a serial port lol). Been meaning to buy a wireless one, but meh been to lazy to do that.
obmit Posted March 2, 2012 Posted March 2, 2012 Workaround for using quotes in Console that I use is changing the keyboard layout to United Kingdom in Windows. On the British keyboard apparently the " is above the 2, instead of the @. Hope that helps!
