Unable to trade.

After adding a few mods I'm now unable to trade with any companion, they just shrug when I choose that conversation option. I deleted the mods I installed since they were mostly just .esp files but nothing remedied the problem. Any ideas what might have caused this? My load order is attached. Thanks!

What I usually do when Skyrim is acting up is disable my mods in some sort of controlled way and test them to see which ones are causing the problems. A combination of mods is a bit more complicated.

Ex: Single Mod Solution

1)Disable half the mods excluding Skyrim.esm and Update.esm.

2)Test both halves to see if problem occured.

3)If one half of the files cause the problem, repeat steps 1-2 with that half of the section. If neither halves cause problems then it is a combination of mods.

 

Ex: Combination Mod Solution

1)Activate mods in groups (or individually if you're that tedious). I recommend groups of 5-10 as it makes step 3 much easier

2)If no problems have occured, continue to activate mods without deactivating the previous set.

3)When problem occurs, figure out which mod is causing the problem exactly by activating mods individually. 5 mods at a time reduces the chance that you will have both conflicting files in the same set. Again, do not deactivate mods as you progress.

4)Once you find the mod that causes the problem, move it to the top of your list (or write down the name). This makes it much easier to keep track of incompatible mods.

5)Deactivate all mods except for the conflicting one that you found in step 4 and repeat steps 1-4.

 

6)Once you have found every mod that conflicts with one another, you must chose one or more to deactivate. Doing so will allow the others to progress normally without conflicting with one another. The amount required to deactivate depends on many things and you have no way of knowing how many you need to deactivate exactly. All you can do is guess and check.

 

Keep in mind that this is my personal method of confirming issues with ESM and ESP files and that it is rather long and tedious the more mods you have. Good luck!
