WiCloud Posted November 17, 2014 Posted November 17, 2014 it's very bizarre really...I can walk through plains, caves, on mountains and even swim around huge waterfalls during night time...what can i not do? walk through a forest...during the daytime in skyrim i can run through large forests and have no CTD. It occurs immediately during night time though. no warnings like a small freeze or lag and i have that patch that doubles my skyrim storage data from 256mb to 512mb. It even occurs in swamps *because there's lotsa trees there too derp* I tried lowering my shadows to LOW and it still occurs. I tried disabling mods like flora overhaul*yes it affects tree's too* and high def ground structures through out ALL of skyrim to see if those were the culprits..no go. I have Realistic lighting overhaul but don't have climates of tamriel installed *it forces a CTD on main menu dunno why*Â Â The crash isn't immediately as soon as i look at a forest but as soon as i walk/run or ride through it...and it's random so not the same location. it only occurs in heavy forest area's. 14 or less tree's and no crash. 15 or more all on screen and im either going to crash or don't, again random. I also had another CTD issue concerning wearable lanterns. If you sneak in a ruin/dungeon while wearing a lantern your game crashes...i resolved that by deleting the mod and use night eye instead *if im a beast race humans don't need it unless im a vampire* although that mod has nothing to do with this it's still good to share what you know =) Â Â if you wanna see my load order I'll post it but in my personal opinion a mod may not be causing it, it could be an internal thing...with the engine? generating too many shadows perhaps? realistic lighting does make the game generate more shadows and they seem to remain at night time from what i noticed.
Alpia Posted November 18, 2014 Posted November 18, 2014 Well allways upload your loadorder and a papyrus.log from a crash regardless if it is related it dosen't hurt. Â With your description only I say its either some mod that changes the lighting (here would a loadorder be helpfull see) or its a memory problem which I think is the possible problem from just your description rnd ctd's are mostly a memory problem. Thats why I want you to install memoryblockslog http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/50471/?and provide its log that includes a ctd (yes I know you are allready using the memory patch do it anyway so we can be sure its not releated) Â I assume you use a enb if you are not using a enb I recommend it, it will increase not only your looks it will also increase the performance what is the most important thing about enb is it will make skyrim possible to use more than 3.1 gb ram otherwise you crash at 3.1 gb ram usage regardless how much you have. Â So now assuming you either have enb allready or now have installed it open your enblocal.ini and search for the line VideoMemorySizeMb=XXXX in there put in the size of your vram+ram - 128 so in my case that would be (4gb vram + 16gb ram) 4096+16384 - 128 so for me the value i can inseart here would be 20352 20gb skyrim will never use so the highest I would type in is 10240 without knowing your hardware I assume you have 8gb ram and a 2gb video card so you can either use this calculation or type in 8192 this is more than enough and is leaving some ram over for your system.

I always wanted to use one but never understood them. there are so many mods that boost graphics so i never saw the point in ENB's...this is the only thing that EVER crashes my game now besides that lanterns bug but i done erased that. Â Now to type out each and every mod name in the list...seriously i don't know how to copy it lol! it's 133 mods. Â wait no I'll get that in my next post. I also don't know how to check logs...sad i know...but I don't really run into a lot of problems and i only use custom races now. I just play skyrim and that's the most common crash i get.

WiCloud Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 I added the dll and ini file from that mod to my SKSE plugins file and that was it...so im guessing each time i crash it'll make a log file?
Alpia Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 sorry, but I had to laugh you seriously typed all your mods here? again sorry at least you show real dedication. For the future here is a little help now I really know why you did not want to post your loadorder. Your loadorder is saved in username/appdata/local/skyrim you have to enable "show hidden folders" in your windows or use NMM or MO you can also export the loadorder with them.  The reason for enb is your skyrim is a 32 bit application and therefore can only use 3.1gb ram if you install mods to change your graphics you will most likley come to the point where the 3gb ram are not enough anymore and you crash. Enb not only makes your skyrim more beautiful it also is able as it is a 64bit application to handle more than the 3gb ram so I really recommend you to install enb this will most likly also fix your crash problem you can monitore your ram usage yourself and see if you hit the 3gb limit.   I added the dll and ini file from that mod to my SKSE plugins file and that was it...so im guessing each time i crash it'll make a log file? It logs how big your memory blocks are or get you have to play the game and crash since it logs all usage not just from a crash so make sure well you crash and provide the log from it you find it here data / skse /plugins its simply called memoryblockslog.txt  Your papyrus log again will be usefull to make sure it is mod releated or not if you don't know how to enable papyrus logging here: Copy these in your skyrim.ini in Documents > My Games > Skyrim >[skyrim.ini]: Quote [Papyrus]bEnableLogging=1bEnableTrace=1bLoadDebugInformation=1

Always thought they were just for show and never had an important use. Last time i tried installing Realvision ENB it recommended a HUGE list of mods to me, I downloaded and installed nearly that whole list and i was satisfied with what my Skyrim looked like after that. So i didn't bother getting the ENB.  On a different subject real quick, how do you minimize skyrim to check stuff on the internet? Sometimes get skype messages while playing too. I usually go do Control Alt Delete and choose not to end the game but then it's stuck in a black screen *meaning the game isn't displaying*. Haven't found any useful ways yet on the internet besides Control Alt Delete.
Alpia Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 well alt + tab should work sadly skyrim dosen't like to be minimized and I say you have a 1:10 chance to crash on tabbing out. When tabbing in I allways have to tab back in the game then I have the black screen you described and then I have to tab in another time then it reopens so basically I have to alt + tab two times in the game dont know if this works for all users  with enb you could enable borderless window, but at the cost of performance. My friends all have their steam on so well I don't have to tab out when I want to google something in the game I use the steam browser.  When you have alle the mods from realvision enb installed and are satisfied with the look you can just install the performance version it wont cost much performance, but as allready said skyrim can only handle 3gb ram and since enb itself is a 64bit application it can handle more and therefore helps skyrim with dealing with HD textures etc. Another benefit from enb is that enb is able to use your ram to take away load form the gpu so enb can use your normal ram as vram reserve. This also prevents crashes if your vram is overloaded. So again I will take a look to your papyrus.log when you upload it if it isn't mod releated I really recommend the install of enb. Right now until I saw your papyrus.log I can't say 100% sure if it is memory or mod related.
WiCloud Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 Â Alrighty I'll go get it installed right now. I don't have friends over the internet but im glad i ran into the loverslab community. I'd be lost on what to do without help but after i figure it out or someone tells me i remember it pretty well which just leads me to asking less questions. I need to be more social and maybe I can find someone who'd help me with this stuff if i ever wanted to make mods.Â
WiCloud Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 uh-oh Realvision requires Climates of Tamriel and my game crashes immediately on start up with that mod enabled. I'll try it anyways and see what the log will say.
WiCloud Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 Im not getting any logs but im crashing immediately on start-up just as i said...sad because i can't use realvision ENB without this mod installed first. It's a required mod. Â proof my skyrim hates me? lol. But anywho i guess realvision is out of the question since climates of Tamriel don't want to work. i have it's required mods installed and all it needed was a lighting overhaul i believe.
WiCloud Posted November 19, 2014 Author Posted November 19, 2014 well, i installed Project Reality-Climates of Tamriel v3 and that works! even made a few notable changes to my skyrim. but i left the options it gave me on default. they were about making things brighter or darker. weather effects have a little detail now like brighter snowflakes. vanilla is rather meh.Â
Alpia Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Are your crashes fixed too? Â For ENB well as you have seen yourself there are tons of presets for it you can also just backup your enb files and play around with the settings to see what changes so you get a feeling for it like I said you can change pretty much everthing daytime nighttime you could even disable the nights if you want to^.^ colors, saturation shadows, water, so much to play with just don't forget to backup your stuff and when you change something you like don't forget to use the save button

I've never dealt with any at all and it appears Realvision won't be an option for me. Although i do like it.... as far as crashes..none yet...and ran through the forests at night and nothing...but they were covered in snow so I'll try going green again at night time.  as far as editing stuff with what you just said I'd prefer to leave it all at default, don't know anything about ENB and trying to edit it will only cause me more problems. Im wanting Realvision because of how awesome it looks but it may not happen.  RAM 8.00GB 64-bit operating system AMD A6-3650 with Radeon HD Graphics 2.60 GHz  Im not sure if that's good enough for Realvision. But if it isn't I'll look for something with lower standards i suppose.
Sorinade Posted November 19, 2014 Posted November 19, 2014 Took me 3 attempts to install the realvision ENB correctly, and it takes a while think about 2 hours if done correctly (paused it a lot). The youtube video install guide for it is out of date. The realvision page has more mods than the video, start at the top of the guide and do it all (unless it tells you not to or to choose one option). Don't install any graphics mods first, install some after that don't clash if you want. If installed correctly, the difference from vanilla is very big - really. The ini file changes make a big difference and the realvision page has a set you can downloard to replace yours, it's under part 2 i think and they have instructions written in as to which numbers to alter - nice and easy to follow. Â A crash at the main menu means that you are missing a required mod or your mod load order is very wrong. Use LOOT to sort load order if you're not and use Tes5edit to find the missing mod. Run it and don't de-select anything. It will give you an error when it encounters the problem. So you can see which mod is failing, and go to it's download page so you can check the required mods and hopefully find what you're missing. The required mods are never optional, though sometimes multiple body options are listed (pick your chosen one). Â I still used the youtube video as a guide - it's helpful, just installed the extra files while it was paused then continued.

I know which mod is failing it's climates of Tamriel so im probably missing a mod that i failed to notice. also LOOT and Tes5edit? rearranging my load order could F up my entire game but Tes5edit sounds good. I had to re-install Skyrim only once before because I messed up load order and the glitches were disfigured bodies and freezing graphics. Erased every single mod i had in the mod manager then i had to hunt them all down again so im not sure if i can trust LOOT.Â
WiCloud Posted November 20, 2014 Author Posted November 20, 2014 Good News! although I haven't installed any ENB's it appears Project Reality-Climates of Tamriel V3 fixed my shadows! Believe it or not i ran through atleast 7 different forests during night time to see if i can get the crash to occur again and it never did! My nights seem a little darker now but i have night eyes on my character *she's a beast race* so nightly runs aren't that bad. I played Skyrim for 10+ hours yesterday and never crashed once. The game did a few hiccups but nothing bad really. I'll go and mark this as solved thanks Chasm and Sorinade for the help you gave me. It appeared that my shadows needed fixing.
Alpia Posted November 20, 2014 Posted November 20, 2014 Glad you fixed your problem I still suggest installing it
