stevegarcia
I would like to make a new mod consisting of a creepy porcelain mask. After several attempts at making my own model in blender, I have come to realize that it would take me a very ong time to make this on my own. I am failr decent with Photoshop however, so creating a high quality texxture would be fairly easy for me.  So, I figured that would create a request for a more capabale 3d artist to assist me in this matter. I have attached a few pictures of the generall overall profile of the mask. The idea would be a porcelain mask that, when placed on an individual would, could be locked from the back with a key, imprisoning the wearer.  The original concept would be to show the player characters eyes, and only the very top of the scalp, so that hair would not be covered by the model.  Ideally, there would be signs of aging perhaps small fractures around one of the eyeholes.  I origionally tried to use a female head mesh and build my mask off of that, since a feminine profile was what I really desired.  If any one would be interested in assisting me with this, I would be greatly appreciative.   Link to comment
Reenana
Unn.. so basically its only a layer of a headmesh but without a  morph..? or it morphs too depending on expression..?  adding a morph to a mesh atop a mesh...  also was the mesh supposed to let the eyes  blinks inside the mesh...?  also, me just asking tho.. >.> me kinda curious (^q^) Link to comment
stevegarcia
Your correct. It would be a static head mesh.  Yes, and so you would only be able to see the characters eyes behind the mask.  Make it kind of creppy and mysterious  Link to comment

I just hope I can find someone who can help me the model. I even have an idea for a quest/story for it! Link to comment

Thanks for the mesh! Its actually pretty good for a great start. I already stated to make the base texture for it, and I must onfess that itlooks pretty creepy. Here are some examples of the flat texture. I am not sure if your abale to see the porcelain detail on the close up (2nd Screenshot).   It would be really awsome if we could add a "skeleton key" locking mechanism in the middle-back of the mask that looks similar to the third attachtment.  Link to comment
stevegarcia
Okay so here is a new texture update. The overall look and feel of the mask is progressing. So far I have aged the porcelain for a more rugged and dark look. I have also added some fracturing on the right eye area of the mask. I hope that these screens can show the detail I am trying to achieve. This is my first attempt to texture lol so its taking me some time.  Plans:  1. Add extra detail to the to the mask - including genral wear and dirt.  2. Hopefully find more assistance to create a locking mechanism in the back of the mask. Link to comment
Reenana
Wait... there's something wrong with the mesh. its missing some normals on some triangles  i only made holes at the head scalp, not everywhere... at first i thought it was my renderer that got wrong, but thats not it i think. ill try figuring it ._. Reenana
Try this one  maskwrev.7z  i also try to separate the lower  chin uv grid from the entire face, so that any texture wouldnt get stretched..  lower chin uv.7z  edit : i forgot to add this : meshwithnewuv.rar  and you rlly got nice texturing skills.. i wish i can do that too (_ _")  Edit: added a simple lock.. ?       maskwrev-lock.7z  wkey4k.7z    Link to comment

stevegarcia
Thats a nice texture (^q^) Thanks! Okay I couldt respond earlier for some odd reason. I almost finished the texture, but I need the normal map for the mask. I actually have no idea how to make the normal lol. The texture is 4k, and I would like the normal to be as detailed as possible. I dont know if I would need another program to make it.  The models look fantastic btw. I did a quick test and I was able to get it to show up correctly in game, except without normals, all the textures seem rather flat lol.  ANy suggestions? Link to comment

fizzybutt
http://www.crazybump.com/ Â You just use your texture to make the normals. That is the most awesome program evar. Don't worry about it being a demo, you get to use it for 30 days. Link to comment
