[Solved] Unable to activate certain items

I have a strange issue where the activate key 'E' does not work on certain items.  I first noticed it on the odd potion, I could take the potions around it but for some reason could not pick one up.  I then noticed it on a door into Jorrvaskr, the popup appears ('E' to Open), but pressing E does nothing.  No problem as there are 3 other doors into Jorrvaskr that all still work. 

 

Now I have this problem on a cupboard in Breezehome with all my crafting gear inside, as well as one bowl and one cup on top of the cupboard.  The popups appear, E to search or E to take but pressing it does nothing, however if I hold E I can still move the bowl and cup around as normal, just not take them.  All other items and containers in breezehome are fine, it's just these 3 items. I can still select these items in the console and view inventory, but the command 'disable' does not work on them.  I was able to empty the cupboard by having a follower take items from the cupboard, which is then empty, but I still cannot access it myself.

 

I have no mods that modify breezehome, jorrvaskr doors, or potions directly, and can only assume it must be something that modifies activations in general, but I have remove and cleaned scripts from any mods that could affect this and not solved the problem.

 

I also had the same problem on my last save game with other random unrelated items.

 

I can live with just these items not working in order to not lose save progress, but I don't want to carry on if it's just going to keep happening to more and more things.

So typically I spend literally hours trying to find a solution or fix it myself before posting here as a last resort, only to stumble on the solution 2 minutes later.
