Mister Lister Posted September 11, 2014 Posted September 11, 2014 I have a few questions regarding alliances, factions, and what you can achieve with mods regarding a few other things. 1 - In Oblivion, it wasn't safe to make respawning NPCs such as highway bandits into followers, even without mods, because of obvious reasons (namely save corruption, bloating, etc). Is it the same in Skyrim? Or is there any mod/any console commands that allows me to make respawning NPCs into followers safely? 2 - Are there are any mods/console commands that allows the player to join different minor factions such as necromancers, bandits, etc. so that these are allied and won't attack you anymore? In other words, are there any mods that allows me to become one in these factions? If not, is there at least a mod that allows me to disguise into different minor factions by wearing their outfits or doing similar things?
Resident999 Posted September 12, 2014 Posted September 12, 2014 I have added myself to various factions through mods and console commands with seemingly little issue, if any. But I don't know about bandits or necromancers. if you type "help bandit" or "help necromancer" in the console command, you should get a rather large list of various types of npc necromancers and bandits. Look for where you see "npc bandit marauder " for example and search for something that says "faction" and a 5 digit number. For example I have played as a forsworn character so I've added myself to the forsworn faction. The forsworn faction number is 43599. So the command is "player. addfac 43599 1" Incidentally anything considered a witch seems tied into the forsworn faction. So for example if you go to the Glenmore Witch cave before being sent there by Kodlak during the companions quest line you'll find it home to witches instead of hagravens. The witches will not be hostile. Also of course hagravens will not be hostile. I created an Elenwen clone one time and in order to not be attacked by thalmor I added her to the thalmor faction. "player. addfac 39f26 1" The one on the end sets their disposition towards you and seemed to be enough to keep that faction from attacking you. in theory changing the 1 to a 0 should reset the faction to neutral causing them to attack you again but I never tested that out. The werewolf overhaul mod I use adds any of my werewolf characters to the wolf faction so other wolves and werewolves will be peaceful towards me despite me being in werewolf or human form. I imagine something similar can be done with bandits. Only since bandits are in MUCH greater numbers in Skyrim then forsworn I'd imagine having that many npcs not attacking you would seem unrealistic. Your best bet is to use the bandit start in Live Another Life, Alternate Start so just the bandits at your starting location are friendly. Makes more sense that way as I imagine bandits would consider other bandit gangs as rivals. Hope that helps you.
