Odd texture shading after using NPC Editor.

So I've been modifying my NPCs and giving them custom hairs to varying degrees of success. However many problems arose. At first I had to deal with the skin seam issue which I fixed by going into the Creation Kit object window, selecting the actors and hitting Ctrl+F4. While this worked, this brought up a whole new set of issues.

As you can see, the top of their heads is shaded differently from the rest of the body. I tried disabling the newly created esps, but it seems to have affected my vanilla files, even if I load only Skyrim.esm.

I would appreciate it if someone gave me insight into this issue.

Guess you've blown out a mesh.bsa... directly into your gamefolder. Modifications in both NPC editor and Construction Kit thus directly affect the facegen nifs in the meshes/.../skyrim esm folder, no matter if the new created (and bugged) esp files are still present or not.

Not sure I compeletly understand what your saying, but it's real shame since the discoloration is really annoying. Not sure about now, but changes made from npc editor actually worked fine compared to using the CK. Remove all facegen files awhile ago, but I'll look into it after getting some sleep.

I kinda sort of experienced this, although I found setting a certain Upper Eye tattoo texture to Default hides it.

Remember that whenever you export one of these facegens, it goes somewhere. Haven't really checked yet though. Probably somewhere in the actors directory, probably in a folder labeled with the npc's formID. Or something like that. SK Wiki might have more info. Anyway, you can always delete that. I think.

Okay, figured it out. It seems that custom face textures (Bella, Oriental, Coverwomen, ect) plays merry hell with the CK as far as tintmask is concerned.

Basically, the only way to have working tintmasks in the CK (lips, eyeshadows, eyeliners, ect) is basically move your entire texture folder somewhere temporarily and edit your NPC and export the face gen data using the default textures - if not, the CK will load up any custom texture installed, which messes up the tintmask options.

After that, move texture folder back to their original place (make sure not to replace the newly generated facegen data).

It's a bit tiresome, but it works perfectly so far.
