Hi, the download of the official Highres Texture DLC just finished. Entering Markath I recognized a goat leg on a purple treestump besinde one of the market stands. In Solitaire I got the same. Looks like a missing texture. I am not sure if this is because I removed all the texture mods I installed before I downloaded the DLC or if this is a bug with the DLC.

Are your treestumps purple as well?

If textures are purple, that usually means you are out of ram. I had that in the unpatched game and before 4GB skyrim a couple of times. No idea what to do about it.

Well I have more than 1GB VRAM and 6GB RAM. Just made as save in front of the stump and restarted steam. The stump keeps purple in Markath and Riften. No other issues with other objects. So, if nobody else has this I guess one of my mods is not correctly uninstalled or interferes somehow.

I haven't gotten the HD-pack jet. So better wait a little until someone else had the chance to find these stumps, before making a new installation. ^^

Hi,

I have the same problem. But checked only Markath. I've just reloaded without high res pack and the treestump texture was correct. After loading high res - it's getting purple. Note, I also had some mods installed before, yet I think it's a bug.

How to use the new Official Hi-Res texture pack with user created mods:

1. Disable or delete the esps that came with the official texture pack.

2. Backup then open

SteamAppsCommonSkyrimSkyrim_default.ini

&

DocumentsMy GamesSkyrimSkyrim.ini

3. Change this in both files:

[Archive]

sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa

To this:

[Archive]

sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa, HighResTexturePack01.bsa, HighResTexturePack02.bsa

4. Save both files.

Now user created mods will be able to override what they need to override in the official texture pack.

Umm.. i don't think so, For my opinion its worst. I got some missing texture too in Dwemer ruins yet i didn't touch any mods that change Dwemer ruins and i have 6GB RAM with VGA GTS-450. After i uninstall it and change back to HD-2K everything back to normal. So i think everyone knows the answer.

well, the guy said this too...

As long as the new bsas are later in the list in the ini, then they'll override the vanilla ones that come with the game. Sadly the HD pack doesn't replace all the textures in the game, so if you renamed and removed the original Textures.bsa you'd end up with a large percentage of your game without textures.

it kinda seems that with the HR pack you guys are missing some textures. but that would happen only if your old Textures.bsa will not be there or will not be loaded by the game and only the new pack textures are loaded.

just a wild guess. try to edit the ini files the way he say and this should force the game to load thing properly.

The tex pack is terrible. Textures aren't improved by much, and lots of people are having big fps hits or purples.

Typically the purple _____ whatever your seeing in your game is because you have most likely ran out of video ram. While the 4gb patch will help with your frame rates for processing what you see on the screen it does nothing at all for loading the textures to be shown. Simple meaning, you probably shouldn't use it if your running a 1GB card. I have 6GB of Vram on my 580 classified ultra sli setup (3gb per card) and I have not seem any missing textures at all. The ram on the card is dedicated video ram and pretty much used for rendering objects and the objects textures, that info is then handed off to your intalled ram sticks via the north / south bridge and final touches for physics are placed in my the cpu if no dedicated card is present.

If your running a 32 bit OS your in even more trouble as your installed ram and video ram will only be recognized up to 4gb but the OS will only ever use 3.25 at a max.

ok, so none of that read actually explain a purple tree stump. unless you deleted your original textures.bsa file that just means that not 100% of the textures are high resolution.

I am not sure if I will use it in the future. I often ask myself 'Is this better than before or is it just imagination?". Most of the time I am running through the gameworld and not looking on every wood plank or stone. A few minutes ago I recognized that the ice on the ground is blocky. I reinstalled one of the hires-ice-mods again. I only use weapons of other mods like Jaysus' Swords and so I don't need higher textures for the weapons. Btw. the foresworn bow does not seem to have improved.

My thoughts at the moment: I will uninstall the Hires-Pack and replace the textures which are important to me with the work of mods.

In all honesty I use ENB and the settings are blend of a real world lighting with a slightly dreamstate blur that is just barely noticable and with that on I can not tell a bit of difference between the vanilla and hires pack. I would say if your really wanting to have a high resolution game world just grab the various user made high res mods like the better cities series and real water textures. They will make a more noticable difference than the Beth high res stuff imo. On th same note the user made packs will most likely have a slight fps hit as they don't have to keep the average user in mind and can aim just towards high end pc users.

I agree. I have already uninstalled the Hires DLC and reinstalled:

- RWT - Realistic Water Textures

- Skyrim Sunglare

- HD Furniture and Barells

- HiRes Ledgible Road Signs

- Bump Roads Vanilla

- Deadly Spell Impacts

- Bellyaches Animal and Creature Pack

- Enhanced Blood Textures

- Enhanced Night Skyrim

- Unblinding Books

- Visible Windows

- Yuril Rings HQ

- Xun Rama Coin

Not all of them are Hi-Res but give the game a good optical boost imho.

I am just looking for some good stock armor and clothing replacers. I checked 'Improved NPC Clothing - High Res' but I am not 100% satisfied. I just recognized '2X Clothing Re-Mix' and will check it out.

I hope that Bethesda will fix this stupid bugs soon and without necessity to downloading 3 gb again. The dlc textures are ok, especially clothing and fur, but they made my game dramaticallly laggy and unstable.
