Question on HDT hair and Beast Form problem

Hello, everyone!

I'm having a small issue with HDt hair (they ponytail one from nexus) and Beast form transformations. Whenever the beast form ends, and my character reverts to normal, her hair extends off into infinity. No other HDT areas/objects have this problem, so I'm at a loss as to how to fix it.

I'm using the 10.24 HDT version, and the most recent version of the HDT ponytail from Nexus. If it's just a problem I'm going to have I can live with that. Restarting the game fixes it, so only a minute or two interruption. But it'd be nice if it was fixable.

Thanks in advance for any advice anyone can give me!

It seems to be an innate issue with how Skyrim's game engine sorts out and handles hair objects as compared to equipped items. You might need to find a skeleton for you character that already has the ponytail hair mesh's bone chain integrated onto the skeleton itself, rather than having the hair posses it's own skeleton (or you can painstakingly do it yourself).

If that doesn't work, you may have to link the hair's .xml to both the naked body, the beast form and the facegen, if there is one. But I can only see this solution leading to more issues if you have the .xml as your DefaultBBP.xml file--it'll spam your PhysicsExtension log with a bunch of errors about missing bones for those that don't exist on the parent meshes' respective skeletons.

Another solution is making the hair an equippable wig, but it's not much of a solution since the hair will be unequipped on transform and the HairTint shader always resets the color to the default every time the item is re-equipped and won't come back until the next rebuild of the character (like on racemenu or save load)...

If you can live with it, I would call it a minor inconvenience. The first option might be your best bet. Hope this helps!

Maybe try HDT PE 14.28?  10.24 may be the stable release but I don't recall anyone having problem with 14.28 and pretty much all the mods here are built with 14.28 AFAIK.

Thanks for the advice. i kinda figured it would be more trouble than it's worth to fix.

I did try the new version, but it actually has a weird effect on the ponytail. It causes it to move very slowly and fluidly, almost like it's floating in still water. So i stick with the stable release until there's a fix for that.
