Okay, I seriously need a step by step procedure on how to unpack the bsa's and replace them with folders for skyrim.

What I have been able to do:

1. Get a program to unpack the bsa's (bsa unpacker from tesnexus, the archive thing from fo3nexus is acting like a total bitch as it's not letting me download it, if someone could give me a dl link NOT from fo3nexus that would be great).

2. unpacked most of the bsa's (although I'm not even fully sure that they completely did.

What I've not been able to do/what I need help with:

1. fully unpack the textures bsa, it only extracts a few of the files (most notably the dog texture .dds stuff, nothing else works and I get an error message when trying to extract).

2. I'm not sure how to organize the folders so everything works right, do I just plonk all of the folders into the data folder or what?

3. controlling my temper

Look, I really want to mod my game and I really need help. Any help will be really appreciated guys.

One more question, would it be easier to just convert mods into bsa's, rename them as "texture.bsa" (or whatever it's called) and then overwrite? I understand that I won't be able to delete or edit that stuff, unless there is a way. But I have no idea.

Thank you in advance.

It's hard to understand what's they're telling me, I'm no smart modding/editing genius, so I barely understand what they mean. Maybe I'm just a dumbass, I don't know, a step by step guide would be much more helpful, but thank you anyways, I'll try to read some more.

After several grueling hours I just used the fallout 3 archive utility to extract the bsa's and then deleted them and replaced them will all of the folders. Everything seems to be running fine and the first texture mod (sexy winterfell) that I tried worked great, I'll post if there are any more complications. Thanks guys!

I dont know who told you that you need to extract the bsa fles and delete them in order to be able to use mods. but is kinda wrong... way wrong...

the bsa files are archives that store all the game data. think at them as a safe backup... BUT the Data folder takes precedence over the bsa files, so, you just needed to install the mods, which always go to Data folder.

I hope you havent put those extracted folders into Data files though, although I dont understand how the game still works without having them there and acting as mods. because if you have them all into Data folder, as you deleted the bsa, if you will install a mod you will override the only vanilla files that you have for that thing/item/NPC - those from the folders. and what will happen if you will wanna get rid of that mod? the extracted files are gone, the bsa files are gone...

so, either your forced to stick with that undesired mod or forced to search for another to please you, if there will be another one. and if you will realize that the vanilla version of something was better, dream on...

you should reinstall your game...
