CeeTeeDee Posted July 12, 2014 Author Posted July 12, 2014 ah i see now... if it doesn't turn black when you skin wrap its fubared, that stands for 'fucked up beyond all recognition' question is, what to avoid when modelling armours from scratch? let me know if i deserve an noob though i have succeed in skin wrapping a potato, various other food items and a skull... still my armour eludes me how do you revert meshes to a skin-wrappable state if you've modelled beyond 30,000 verts? i'm going to have a glass of merlot and ponder that.

Nightasy does do an excellent series of tutorials, and a large number of them deal with constructing new armours from scratch. I would suggest checking them out.

The 3ds exporter occasionally nerfs the NiSkinData on complex meshes so it helps to repeat the skinning process until the nifs co-operate, sometimes it takes a few attempts before it works... i have a mental block when it comes to training videos... i got that from listening to CCIE training videos for hours & hours...
