lambient1988 Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 I don't really get it, what are replacer mods? Like armor replacers or some other replacers I saw but I don't remember.
arimius Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Essentially, a replacer mod alters something already there, while a stand-alone mod adds something new. As an example, an armor replacer will alter something about a default armor set (generally meshes and/or texture, though some will also modify the stats as well), whereas a stand-alone armor mod will simply add a new set of armor to the game without replacing anything

Guest endgameaddiction Posted July 11, 2014 Posted July 11, 2014 Replacers change anything regarding the vanilla content. Body Replacer changes the vanilla body in game. Armor replacer changes the vanilla armor in game. weapon replacer changes the vanilla weapons in game. Lydia replacer changes the appearance of Lydia in game. Though, when it comes to NPCs they never really refer them as replacers. A replacer doesn't necessary have to come with a .esp since all it really does is overwrites the original mesh and/or textures. When it does include a .esp it could be various reasons; stats changed or added, the gear sold by a vendor or placed in a box in the game world etc... Or it could be tied with a quest to obtain the armor as a reward via script attached to it.
