Followers are essential?

So I was happily playing along, and noticed that AFT isn't doing its thing. 

 

I made sure the setting for "NPC can not die permanently" was off, but for some reason my followers are still essential. 

 

So I tried to kill Lydia, though she justs falls down on one knee. 

 

Anyone know why?

There is setting for follower after NPC setting, if you set in NPC part - it will not effect follower.

For which mod are you referring to? If you mean AFT, I have already set Companions to not be essential
