circ Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I suspect it's something from Submit Progression causing it. I got tied up by a giant, my follower was not in the immediate area as I jumped down a mountain, well not entirely. Anyway, I break free of my binds, kill the giant and start running to roughly where my follower should be. Call my horse and get on it, and soon the follower appears, already on her horse. Later I discover she's got a bunch of DD devices on her too. I fast travel out of there, she's still on horseback as I do this. We end up in Markarth and suddenly she pulls her weapon and won't move. I check her inventory, notice the devices, oops. Remove them and she's still stuck with her weapon drawn, not moving or following me. I start testing a bunch of things to get her out of the combat loop. Starting with hitting her until she goes into bleedout - no change. Sex her up, repeatedly - no change, although for the duration of the acts she acts normal but then goes back into combat stance once she puts her clothes on. Use order follower to have her activate a few things and sleep in a bed - goes back to combat stance once she's done. Disable then enable her and moveto player - no change. Fast travel to Fort Dawnguard, moveto player her there, dismiss her - still in combat; have her refollow - still in combat mode. Fast travel to a dragon and enter combat, 'summon' her there - she's in the correct stance but does absolutely nothing, and keeps to the stance once combat ends. Only thing I haven't tried is kill then resurrect, but that might screw things up more. And uninstalling Submit Progression.
grifterrik Posted July 7, 2014 Posted July 7, 2014 I've had something similar happen, and I think this is why there is a "follower friendly" version of submit. But I like the options of progression so I just don't submit if I have a follower (usually don't). Anyway, here are some other console commands that might help: - resetai might help, but usually doesn't help much for me when npcs get messed up. Still worth trying as it's the least "offensive" in terms of side effects - recycleactor may help, but may reset them more than you would like - I read somewhere in the early days of skyrim that the most thorough way to reset an npc via console is Kill / Disable / Resurrect / Enable. With followers this may reset them to unhired and will reset their inventory to default - If you can't talk to them to access inventory and remove their equipment and need to fully reset them, in the console target them and type openactorcontainer 1 to force open the trade screen so you can collect any goodies first - I've seen npc's get stuck in combat pose while not actually drawing the weapon. They'll even run up to enemies like this and just stand there, not trying to swing. In that case disable/enable usually fixes it, but I've come across some npcs (mainly from 3dnpc) that can't be disabled -- they don't actually disappear when you type disable. In that case resurrect usually takes care of it but will reset their inventory. Hope that helps, but honestly I would probably just load a previous save
circ Posted July 7, 2014 Author Posted July 7, 2014 I don't keep all that many saves. Anyway none of the above worked. I thought recycleactor would atleast, but that just reset her to Fort Dawnguard and put her in combat stance. However, before uninstalling I decided to try submitting to a giant manually, disabling NPC devices. Follower was in combat mode until getting tied up, then when I could break free, she did too and everything's fine now. Oh well.
