i was playing skyrim but it started to fail to open, so i looked up how to fix it and the answer was to delete the ini file. however now whenever i fall, any distance... i die. any help on that?

please god help me. sometimes it goes away but when i start the game up again it remembers and kills me instantly. not even god mode can stop it.

Uh, deleting the skyrim INI file is never a good idea. Do you have a back up of it?

The best way to find a conflicting mod that causes crashes is to look in Wrye Bash which mod is marked as incompatible or deactivating the mods one by one and starting the game.

Removing the Skyrim.ini is actually usually very good and safe idea. It is recreated during the launcher start and provides the most refreshed content from inspecting your hardware.

It should just usually be removed out of the folder, instead of deleting it. It can be destroyed, when Skyrim has succesfully created a new one.

 

My question is, that where did you deleted the file?

Only(!) places where Skyrim.ini and SkyrimPrefs.ini can be deleted is (My)Documents > My Games > Skyrim.

SkyrimPrefs.ini and Skyrim_default.ini can be also found from...SteamApps > common > Skyrim and you should not delete those files at all.

 

Run LOOT to set your load order and  to find possible errors in your file. It inspects the paren/child mod relations, so it is currently very trustworthy and effective tool.

If that does not fix this, then validate your game files from the clean table.

- Exit Steam

- Go to Steam folder and remove folder named appcache

- Close your computer

 

- Start your computer

- Star Steam. It will now inspect you games for new appcache folder

- From Steam client Library view, right-click your game

- Select Properties > Local Fiels > Verify Integrity of Game Cache.

- Let it run.

- 1 file will always fail. It is related how Skyrim and Steam detect your graphic card. It will happen to each and everyone and does not have any effect to your game.

 

Now you have a pure load order and files verified from the clean list. It your game does not work, then there is something else going on.
