Ecchiluvr Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I'm not sure if this is the right forum to post this in, but i'll give it a shot. I'm creating a female follower with the FemaleSultry voice option, and can't find just the "Player" option in Relationship>Child NPC, just PlayerInventory. I'm using the layered menu in the CK, not the Object Window. The FemaleSultry voice is in both the VoiceFollowerAll and VoicesMarriageAll, so i'm not sure what i'm doing wrong/if anything at all. Thanks in advance for any help!
Guest airdance Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 use the "edit base" option window. Under "traits" you will find a selection for voice option. Whatever voice option you select will stick with your base reference. That is unless you deside to use another character's traits to override your character.

Forgive me, i'm brand new just-got-it-today with the Creation Kit, though i've watched a couple tutorial videos over the last 4 hours. Where can I find the edit base option window?
Guest airdance Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 have you created an esp file for your character?
Ecchiluvr Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 have you created an esp file for your character? Ahh, that's a no. So just to get this straight: I should set the NPC up as a follower, save it where I want it to be in the game, and finally come back to the CK and set those options?
Guest airdance Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 not necessarily. You can create a character in any plug in, it is only if you plan to make a standalone character that you will want to have a separate plug in for it. You can use one of your homes .esp file for now. How far are you into the game?

How far are you into the game? I'm using the .npc files and ECE data from Nose32 to pull the character from my current game (completed, main story is done, owns Breezehome and the fully upgraded Falkreath house in the Hearthfire dlc) to create this NPC. I plan on starting another game once this is completed. But a standalone NPC is what I would like to achieve.
Guest airdance Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I have not reached the level of competency required to advise you on a standalone follower, but I believe there is a complete tutorial under the tutorials section , I have sufficient knowledge to make a new character in any location in skyrim and to make that character a follower, and marriageable, but I know very little about importing characters

Her body's imported, the face looks exactly like it does on the Player version, and her inventory is full of the armor/weapons she needs. All I need to know is how to get the player option to the Relationship option, but! Above all else it sounds like I need to place her and come back to the CK, because it sounds like that will save the FemaleSultry voice for most options. After that i'll just need to find another voice that allows the player option...right?
Guest airdance Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 . After that I'll just need to find another voice that allows the player option...right? not quite sure what you mean here. you want your character to have a different voice when talking to the player?

If it's avoidable, no. But from my current selection of the FemaleSultry voice, I can't select the player option from the relationship menu when entering "NPCIDPlayerRelationship" Parent NPC: "NPCID" Child NPC: "Player" Under the Child NPC dropdown menu, I only have the option of "PlayerInventory", which to the best of my current knowledge will not work. What I was refering to was saving her to a .esp as she stands now, and adding a different voice for the marriage option to appear. Unless I misunderstood what you meant, in which case I apologize.
Guest airdance Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 Sorry, I lost my connection. Yes, save to an .esp file then open CK Are you experienced with CK at all, I will assume that you have a beginner's knowledge. Select the CK icon on your desktop, and run it as an "administrator" this will allow you to save to your .esp when you finish your changes. When everything loads(may take some time depending on your machine) Error warnings will appear, select "yes to all" option when everything is loaded in the top left hand corner you will find the "file" tab select that tab, then select the "data" tab select Skyrim.esm file then scroll down until you find your .esp file ( make sure that this file is loaded in the elder scrolls main folder in the "data" sub folder ) set that file as your active file. Now if there are any other .esp files that your character needs at this point, just select them to load so you will have access to the resources to make your character. do not set these extra files as active files. now hit the "load" tab Again depending how your machine is equipped, this could take some time. Again select the error "yes to all" option for any you encounter Go into your list of actors and you should find your character's name lister there, to make it faster user the filter option. If your character is not listed there goto the location where your character is and bring up the "render" screen manually find your character, select it, then double click the character and a window should open. Look for a tab that says "edit base" select tab and a new window will open. You now have access to all parts of your character, all voice options, all relationship options, everything. I hope I am on the right track with you.

Everything's loaded that needs to be, my NPC is found, but double-clicking it opens the same object window as if I were creating a new character from scratch. Even if that is right, I still can't find the Edit Base option. Edit: Got it. Had to place her in the world.
Guest airdance Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 did you select your NPC before double clicking? Edit: sorry answered too soon Ok now you should be able to do what ever you want to your character even add animations. Good luck
Ecchiluvr Posted April 5, 2014 Author Posted April 5, 2014 did you select your NPC before double clicking? That I did. I placed the character where I wanted her in the world and THEN double-clicked her, that got me the edit base option. Just a slight misunderstanding. Unfortunately i'm still getting the PlayerInventory option after adding PotentialMarriageFaction and trying to create the NPCIDPlayerRelationship, Relationship. Could it by any chance be that because i've set her as a follower, I can't add Marriage options? Perhaps I should recreate the .esp and add the marriage options first?
Guest airdance Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 All your relationships are handled under the "relationship" tab But first you have to goto the "factions" tab click that tab and goto the box labeled "factions and ranks" right click on the box and select "new" this will launch a new box with the list of all the factions. use the filter and type in "followers" then select "currentfollowerfaction" press ok repeat the last steps this time selecting "potentialfollowerfaction" click on rank entry for current follower, press "F2" to edit, and change the rank from "0" to "-1" Now goto the "AI data" tab on the actor menu select the tab, and under "AI Attributes" select the assistance section and change it to "helps friends and allies" from the drop down box.

Right, that much i've got. What's happening is (and the reason I asked if I should redo the character and change the order in which I added Follower and Marriage options) once I select Player for the Child NPC option on the Relationship for either Ally/Lover options, I cannot select it for the other option and i'm left with only PlayerInventory on the Child NPC dropdown menu. I cannot set Player for both.
Guest airdance Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 I realize your problem, but I am going step by step to make sure nothing else is left out. Let's go to your area now. Within the object window, goto the select the "relationship" tab you might want to start from scratch, but if you don't, you might want to make sure your relationship ID is unique right click on the relationship box and select "new" change th parent NPC to "none" change the child NPC to "none" change the relationship level from "none" to "ally" save your plupin and test it in your game.

Ahh, sorry about that then. Anyway, she's been saved with that relationship and placed in the game, but does not appear where I placed her inside WarMaiden's. I've gotta run now unfortunately, but i'll be returning in a few hours and i'll start her from scratch. Perhaps I did something else wrong.
