Caliente's Texture Blender

Hello everyone,

In the process of giving people the ability to fix neck seams while using my body replacer with various face textures, I created a tool that simplifies the task of combining texture overlays with textures installed in Skyrim's data directory.

While begun initially as a way to apply CBBE neck seam color, normal, and specular overlays to head textures, I built some flexibility into the tool so that it can be used for any installed texture. Additionally, Texture authors can create definition files and texture packs for their own content fairly easily.

The idea here is that a body maker could distribute a series of tattoos, pubic hair, freckle options, etc for their textures without having to provide tons of combinations like PubicHair 5 + Freckle 5 + hair 3.

The download comes with some example texture modifications for CBBE textures (including everything that's needed for fixing neck seams). The included README details the usage of the program, and how to add additional textures to the library. For fixing neck seams, a step by step example (#2) is also in the readme.

The program itself is written by me in C++ for the win32 api. I've included the full source code as well for anyone who's interested. I'm releasing it under the MIT license.

Please let me know if you have any problems with the tool :)

Thanks,

Caliente

(ps, I've uploaded this to the adult section because of the nudity of the textures ... let me know if I should put it somewhere else.)

Great program idea! It's definitely easier then loading the meshes into Blender and using the paint tool(especially since niftools are taking forever to catch up).

It'll be really great for applying tattoos and the like to skins.

This is really great' date=' lacking photoshop it took me a long time to fix the textures lol. This will definitely be a great tool in the future.

FYI, GIMP opens psd files and has all the important features of photoshop (All of them via free plugins) for free.

yeah before this tool i did it with GIMP, with the .dds plugin, but it somehow wont save correctly, took me a long while to figured it out(of course, im not an expert), so this tool would be great for noobie like myself :D

Any idea on why it just fails to save the file?

I'm following the [Fixing CBBE Neck Seams] tutorial in the readme, but I can't get past Part 1, it just fails and I just don't know why.

If I set the game path manually it supposedly is succesful, but I don't see any edit in the textures directory, no file gets modified.

Does your user account have permissions for programs to edit files in the directory that Skyrim is installed to? This is the most common reason if your running Windows 7 or Vista. You can either try to run the program as administrator (not recommended long term) or change the permissions for the folder Skyrim is installed to so you can edit files there.

roy12: Saving into skyrim's folder is a problem for some people it seems. Likely some kind of permissions issue like Cefwyn suggested. Make sure you run Texblend as admin if you haven't done so already.

IF that doesn't work, you can open the texblend config.xml file and uncomment and set that path to some place in your documents folder, then copy the resulting textures manually

Hope that works for you!

Texblend is the only tool I have. I got it because it is stand alone and I was just barely able to figure out how to use it. Very nice tutorial in the readme!

I have a desire, born of an initial misconception. I do not know if it can be done. This is originally what I thought I could do with texblend, now I know better, but still...

If there were a way to make a, sort of, universal blank texture mod. Lol I want to take an armor texture and get it into the set type head then select color and blend the texture color from the "head" to the body. Then take a normal head an blend that with my armor textured body. If it were only as simple as renaming a file.

Take a jade circlet and make a jade person...

If this cannot be done with texblend, can you recommend another tool? I tried to use gimp for oblivion, and failed to be able to understand, let alone do anything with the interface.

Hey Caliente,

Love your work. Thanks for putting so much time and effort into it and sharing with the community.

I'm working on a spin off of Animated Pros. Mind if I use, and link to your work?

Hey, Cal, are there any other texpacks out there for Texblend? (pubes, tattoos, etc?)

There are some things using it here or there but I don't know of any real packs out there. Hasn't really taken off, unfortunately :)
