Alva Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 Sorry if this is not the right subforum, but as I've not yet got a full mod I didn't really see anywhere to post this I'm trying to learn to mod Skyrim, and have some ideas for (larger) mods to make - so right now I'm starting out with a "safe for work" mod but as I got ideas involving SexLab and resources, I'm using this community mainly (also this place, all things equal seems a lot more laid back and friendly than many of the others ) My 'safe for work' mod is basically a maze with riddles to get some treasure eventually - I know, cheesy, but it provides an entry point for dialogue and scripting, and can be modified for a loverslab/sexlab once I get the hang of things Anyways - I have some general newbie questions regarding mods, which right now revolve around dialogue.I'm following some of the Bethesda tutorials and they illustrate to create a SEQ file to display dialogue in the game - but I suspect this is not needed as , well.... none of the mods I've installed has this. So I suspect there's a step I'm missing somewhere about dialogue in the Skyrim mods and I suspect it involves that Fuz Ro D'oh mod, but I can't seem to find any resources regarding this, outside those pointing to the SEQ file. A lot of modding resources seems to really expect you actually know how to mod, meaning I'm finding steps missing. Does anybody have a resource about (quest) dialogue or can lead me in the right direction. Once I get the hang of dialogue, I can begin the scripting which - while a large topic is not one that scares me as I'm a programmer IRL so it's basically just another language to learn. After that it's learning how to use resources from the various other mods which I then suspect will be the chief issue I'm facing. So I know I've got some "work" ahead of me, but hopefully I'll get there with a little help Thanks in advance.
rangedphoenix Posted March 27, 2014 Posted March 27, 2014 First of all, it seems like only certain types of mods need a SEQ file. Mine did, for example, otherwise the dialogue would never appear. As for how to create dialogue, I learned everything about doing dialogue from here: http://www.creationkit.com/Bethesda_Tutorial_Dialogue As for using Fuz Ro D'oh, its pretty easy. All you need to do is not create a sound file to go along with the dialogue.
Alva Posted March 29, 2014 Author Posted March 29, 2014 Thanks - so at least I'm on the right track. Onwards and upwards ....
Alva Posted April 10, 2014 Author Posted April 10, 2014 Okay - time for n00b question of the day. Seeing as my stand alone mod is taking shape and I've learned a bit about scripting and level design, I'm going to take it a step further and put that one on the back burner for now and start work on a mod idea that's been formulating in my head the last couple of days which will be primarily script and animations from zaz, content from SexLab and Devious Devices and a few others eventually (gotta start small, but think big) My question is then this; When people mod with such references to other mods (multiple masters) Do you install the mods manually within skyrim or run the creation kit via for example Mod Organizer? Seeing as I've not found any reliable way to run multiple installations of Skyrim I'm inclined to install SexLab and the other mods I want to use manually but if it is possible to run Creation Kit 'stable' (yeah, I know) through Mod Organizer and reference mods via that, it might be 'safer' for my main installation of Skyrim? Thanks in advanced (and yes, I know it's n00b questions, but at least I'm moving forward )
