Oblivion BSA's

This is not a specific Lovers question but this site is the best place I've found to get help with off the wall issues.

 

As with everyone else I have to periodically uninstall Oblivion and reinstall everything when I get to the point where I can't play for more than a few minutes at a time. I have done this like half a dozen times since I started playing the game heavilly modded. Today I uninstalled Oblivion, Shivering & KoTN (from the original 2006/2007 disks) and installed a GoTY version. The game crashed immediately after the Bethesda logo. Repeated the GoTY uninstall & reinstall three or four times.

 

The only thing I could see that was out of the norm was that the BSA icons in the Oblivion directory display as a "blank page" ... they do not show up with the Oblivion icon symbol.

 

I uninstalled the Goty, and reinstalled the base game from the original 2006 disk with the same result now. Crash after the Bethesda screen, and the "blank page" icons marking the base BSA files.

 

Then I tried installing to a custom dierctory ie Bethesda\1\Oblivion and have the same result. When I go ahead and install the Shivering & KoTN (from either set of disks) those BSA's do have the Oblivion "eyeball" icon.

 

Anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance

EDIT: I made this so much harder than it was. I forgot about those 3 files in the mygames\Oblivion file. Deleted those and everything is fine again. Thanks Uriel that was exactly it! I know I'm old. I know I suck.

Try wiping out Oblivion save&config directory from "My documents". Backup saves if you need them.
