Spyder Arachnid Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 As the topic says. Haven't been to Windhelm at all to do the White Phial questline, but I had to retrieve Wylandriah's Soul Gem from there at one time. Which initiated the dialogue between Nurelion and Quintus. Well I left before they finished talking, didn't take their quest cause I do city by city quest wise. And I wasn't at Windhelm yet. This was awhile back by the way. Fast forward to today. Time to start doing Windhelm's quests. Have done everything there is to be done, except for the White Phial. Every time I enter the store, even during broad daylight, all they say is "You're not supposed to be in here" over and over. They are stuck in a loop and I can't figure out for the life of me what to do. Even my follower tells me "I don't think we are supposed to be in here". And I am entering during normal business hours. I haven't broken in or stolen anything. I just did that quest for Wylandriah to get her items and her Soul Gem was in the White Phial. But now every time I go to the White Phial, they say "You're not supposed to be in here". So I can no longer get the White Phial quest, and it is the last one I haven't done yet for Windhelm. I was reading the UESPWiki, and it seems to be a known bug: If you never entered the "White Phial" store before (so they haven't talked about the quest yet) and you break in at night Nurelion and Quintus might bug - they won't stop saying "You're not supposed to be here" even if you come back at daytime. "recycleactor" or "resetai" console-commands will not fix this. It tells you the issue, and tells you that certain commands will not fix it, but it says nothing about how to actually fix this issue. So anyone have any idea on how to fix this issue? I have done so much work on this save already, and now I have hit a road block and DO NOT want to start all over again because of this.
Guest Mogie56 Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 This quest can only be started after gaining full access to the Throat of the world during the quest of the same name. so once you've completed that much of the Main quest it should let you begin it.
Jordan Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 If your follower's doing it it sounds like conditioned dialogue applied to all NPCs in the cell, the condition is probably as Mogie said gaining access to the Throat of the World so I guess either leave the quest till you've gotten further in the main storyline or save and use console commands MQ204 and stage 200 should probably do it Edit: Although that will probably break even more quests
Spyder Arachnid Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 Well that's the thing. It's two different quests. The first quest is retrieving the vial. Nurelion sends you on a quest to get the vial in a dungeon, and after you return the cracked vial to him, that is the end of the quest. The SECOND quest that you get, is after you have access to the Throat of the World. Then a courier will show up with the quest Repairing the VIal. That is where you gather the ingredients to repair the vial. The problem is, I should be able to get the first quest. It does not require any prerequisites to be done before I can obtain it. The second quest I know I have to unlock the Throat of the World. But I haven't even got the first quest any ways, to be able to do the second quest. They won't give me the quest to retrieve the cracked vial in the first place. When I go in there, Nurelion should offer me the quest to retrieve the cracked vial from a dungeon. But he doesn't. They both sit there saying "You're not supposed to be here". So the quest you guys are talking about, I can't even do cause I can't get the prerequisite quest first. I appreciate the responses, but those don't really relate to the issue I am having.
Cyndi Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 You could try pulling them out of the shop to see if they will give up the quest outside, or maybe smarten up just from changing cells. Had similar issue for beating up someone for the companions at one point, so you never know. You need their Ref ID numbers, In the console: prid ######## ##### being their Ref ID then Moveto player
Mud Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 It's a pretty heavy-handed option, but perhaps you could try using the command player.setcellownership windhelmwhitephial to make it so you own the White Phial, thus removing the trespass checks?
