Crash Help - Skyrim GOG Version

Recommended Posts

Posted

Moving this from Skyrim to Skyrim SE/AE so it is in the right area. Apologies in advance.

I've been trying unsuccessfully for about two weeks to fix my Skyrim AE GOG Build (1.6.1179) and haven't had much luck. I've been so desperate to get it working, I resorted to going to Gemini for help, which was also unsuccessful since it led me in circles constantly. (How can technology be so smart and still be so dumb?) I'm also doing the modding on a linux machine (Ubuntu 26.04) which I don't know if it has been helpful or a hindrance.

It has been a nightmare trying to fix this. If anyone could please help me fix this, I would be very grateful.

A couple of options for this one:

  1. The mod currently providing Actors\Character\Character Assets\EyesMaleCharGen.tri is not compatible with the mesh it is being applied to.
  2. In crash logs where "Controller disconnected." shows up in the stack it tends to be one of the following:
    1. Missing BEES in a pre-1130 Skyrim SE installation. (not applicable here)
    2. Missing master plugin.
    3. Mod with a dll that is not compatible with your game version.
    4. In some rare cases form 43 plugins can apparently do something similar.

Edit: Since that was proably not helpful, do this:

  1. If your mod manager can't do it, load your loadorder as-is in xEdit. It'll point out if you're missing a mster.
  2. Make sure the tri file is made for the same head mesh as the males are using. The vertex count has to match exactly - no mix-n-match between vanilla and HPH heads.
  3. Go through all mods containing a dll and make sure it was made for and tested on 1179.

I thought since you mentioned Missing BEES, I installed that.

Pointless, since you're not on a pre-1130 version of the game. I mentioned that for future Googlers.

Same issue, different tri file:

KL\High Poly Head\FaceParts\FemaleKhajiitScarChargen.tri

I would have uninstalled the mods that provide the tri files mentioned here. Uninstalling HPH is not going to do anything about an NPC that had their facegen built by someone using HPH.

Edit: Also, consider switching to another logger. There's been cases in the past where they disagree. Technically it shouldn't be possible but you'll want this other one anyways since it makes remote assistance much easier: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/59818

Edit again: After having another think about this it probably won't help any to remove any tri files either since the tri file that gets caught in the crash log seems to change every time. Removing these could normally reveal something if the crash log was staying consistent.

I think I may have found the issue. I think it's High Poly Head 1.4 that is causing the problem. I did a google search and it says it is not compatible with my version of the game (1.6.1179)

At least, I think that's the issue...

Edit: I'm not sure that version of the Crash Logger will work with the GOG Release. I ran it and it says "CrashLogger.dll: disabled, only compatible with versions earlier than 1.6.629" - Sorry.

HPH is not going to be game version dependant since it's only meshes and tri files. The only place where you might see issues is trying to run it on some pre-LE version of Skyrim but even that I think is unlikely.

Works on 1170, so that's probably wrong, or it's specifically having an issue with 1179.

Still saying incompatible dll or head/face tri file is your issue. Beyond that I think disassembly and a debugger is needed. I can disassemble the skee dll here, but if I remember correctly there's no PDB file for that so the amount of information gained from it would be limited. To use a debugger I'd have to be on your machine and break the EULA.
