Inkhornism Posted September 29 Posted September 29 Hi everyone! I'm looking for something that apparently isn't that easy to find, or perhaps doesn't even exist. There are plenty of mods to expand household limit, but I'm looking for quite the opposite. I hate it when my Sim visits a friend's house to find 8 household Sims cramped into a tiny 2-bedroom condo. I was hoping to find a mod that limits household size to the number of beds available on the lot, or perhaps to a user-defined limit that could be customised for the lot in build mode. Has anyone seen something of the kind?
SilentAegis Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) This mod doesn't seem to exist, I'm afraid. It's an interesting mod concept, though. It'd probably have to hook into the game's story-progression mechanic, then compare projected household size against a per-lot capacity value, which the user could probably set. Like, its capacity could default to bed count, but you could set overrides for situations like couples sharing beds or someone crashing on the couch or perhaps more unconventional housing. But alas, I am no modder. Just a nerd with not enough time on his hands. And at the minimum, the design sounds it'd be pretty intermediate in difficulty to build, and quite advanced if your entire idea is implemented literally. Plus, I can already think of edge-cases of this becoming frustrating to implement. Does a double bed count as one sleeping place or two? Do bassinets count? Cribs? Toddler beds? Bunk beds? What about pets? What happens when a household with four beds has twins? Rambling a bit here, but yeah. Neat idea, but it sounds like a real pain to design, which is likely why it doesn't seem to exist. Edited October 7 by SilentAegis
hughraphael Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago When The Sims 4 is moving Sims into lots I think it first uses any pre-existing families which are homeless. Some of those might be five or six Sims. If none of those exist (for exmaple, if you used MC Cheats to delete all the pre-made Sims) it uses one of the many templates it has. Then it generates a Sim for each of the slots in that household. If there's a check to see if there's enough bedroooms or beds for that household, clearly it doesn't work properly. MCCC has a module which marries off Sims in the background, and that can cause households to get full of Sims as a new spouse moves in to an existing household. I have that turned off anyway because I didn't like the townies marrying into households randomly. It has been my experience that you need to make use of the Manage Worlds button quite a bit to get rid of Sims who are annoying and to manage those households which have managed to get too big for the lot they're on. Either I'm moving Sims out and onto a new lot, or I'm altering the house on the existing lot to be more accomodating. I don't think I've seen any mods which specifically make sure that lots are livable before move-in. But if I hear about one, I know that I would be interested.
