Skyrimfloo Posted February 13, 2014 Posted February 13, 2014 Hi again! I come with the next episode of my woes and troubles revamping the Bound Armors mod that I started in this thread. Since I got that part well and the title wouldn't help, I decided to start a new thread. So, I finally managed to get the mesh the way I wanted, merged all the pieces, erased some parts so the clipping between meshes doesn't look bad with the transparency effect, etc. Unfortunately, now comes the part that I think is the most troublesome: getting the proper effects to make the armor look "bound". I've been checking a couple mods that try to do this, like Bound Armory, Expanded Bound Weapons and of course the mod I'm trying to tweak, True Bound Daedric Armors. Unfortunately none of these mods manage to pull off the proper effect (unless I'm doing something wrong installing them, I might have messed my game with so many bound extra item mods at the same time). Right now, the one that I'm using in my working mesh is the last one: As you can see, the effect is far from perfect. If you compare it to the bound weapon in the pics, the armor is very shiny, a bit lighter than the sword, and the flame effect is entirely different, lacking that sort of dense fire over the edge that visually distorts the weapon (the armor does have a fire effect, but it's different). I'm no expert in modding, but I tried searching for anything related to the bound weapons in the game files to no avail. As far as I know, when you create a weapon all you gotta do is tick a "bound weapon" option in creator kit and you already get the ghostly effect with flames, something that of course cannot be applied to the armor since it uses different settings. I tried to search for the bound sword mesh as well, but there's nothing there either, only two weird planes intersecting that I assume has something to do with the flame effects, and no weapon model. So, I start this thread to ask for help to get this properly. I've been tinkering with the LightingShaderProperty nodes in NifSkope but I never get it right, and most of the times I manage to make the armor visuals to dissapear completely, lol.
user2000 Posted March 20, 2014 Posted March 20, 2014 The effects are different, because they are....well, different. The flames on the sword are an animated mesh, the armor flames are an effect shader applied in creation kit. It may be possible to add an animated mesh to the armor, but it would be extremely complex, IMO the shader is the best option. You can try, but it took a lot more effect than it would be worth, to me.
