Your experiences with encounter zone mods? Any modern options?

I have a confession…I’ve never really used many encounter zone mods. I’ve always kept an enormous load order (1500+) but have never attempted to use any encounter zone overhauls in years due to the potential patching nightmare.

What is everyone’s experience with them? Are there any particular modern options that are lightweight, compatible with almost everything? I have a large amount of vanilla enemy overhauls, I’m not sure how that will play.
