FO4 2026 Update Problems

So I've hashed things sort of in that I can get as far as the game actually runs and I can run an AAF mod like Violate or Sex Em Up. But once an animation starts, it crashes to desktop. Keep in mind before last week's update, everything worked fine.. well except for the error in the image I am going to share, the one about Buffout. That one existed even then, but everything in game worked like a charm. Of course I picked a week before last week to chose to get back into this game and now everything appears to be permanently fucked, but I've made more ground then I thought I would. But now I'm at wits end. Anyone got any ideas, updates, or hell any betas? (I got an MCM beta that fixed that bullshit. Can share if people want it.)

 

p.s. I forgot to mention, I'm running it on Vortex if that matters. Its greatly helped in the number of times I've had to re-install and do the modlist from start over and over again.

The newest version of Fallout 4 is version 1.11.240 on PC (Steam), following a major update released by Bethesda on August 18, 2026. 

 

Your LL Fourplay dll plugin is not compatible with latest Fallout 4 update. You have several options - wait until AAF will be updated; you can try to download dll plugin for your game version from here and replace it after AAF. (I'm not sure about this option, never tested it, but it's worth to try)

 

Looks like that downgrader is not updated at the moment for 1.11.240. Or you can try to downgrade via depots (search, how to do it). And turn off automatic updates, if you don't want to fck up game again.

Thank you for the response. I fiddled with downgrader and was not successful and the link you gave me, I've tried actually. All the extra dll's it doesn't like are from that I think. Just going to have to wait for an update on AAF I suppose. Hopefully an update won't require Looks or Buffout because those haven't been updated for years. Thanks for the advice about automatic updates, I'd read that. Wish I'd read it like 3 weeks ago tho lol.

In fact, the new version of AAF already exists, but yes, Dago is waiting for a LooksMenu update.

There is a separate version of LooksMenu for AE, and Buffout is replaced by Addictol.

@UniversalBlue it's better to play v1.10.163. Wait while downgrader will be updated and then roll back. It will be easier, believe me

I did a search and tried the first guide I found to downgrade to v1.10.163 and it doesn't work, however I just found an even more detailed guide which makes me suspect that I don't have everything downloaded that I need which is why FO4 is crashing on its menu. I'll try this guide some time later, maybe Monday - https://forums.nexusmods.com/topic/13494967-downgrading-fallout-4-from-1109840-to-1101630-steam/    I'll let ya'll know if it works for me or not. The first one certainly did not.

edit: just tested, it's working. Only thing is that you need to check your installed mods, if you have something. I had downgraded game and I had some mods, which requires AE content. I can't use them now. But I didn't need to remove all my mods and other stuff...
