traison Posted August 21 Posted August 21 (edited) https://steamdb.info/app/489830/history/ Block your Steam updates or you won't be playing this weekend. Edit: Seems like SKSE is up to date. Maybe they were notified in time for a change: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/30379?tab=files Address library seems to be updated too: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/32444?tab=files Keep in mind that even if you have these 2 updated, it does not mean all plugins will work. Any dll that does something that wasn't already mapped out by these 2 will still be using some form of hardcoded memory offsets. In other words, all the unique and interesting mods may be broken. We may have a downgrader: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/188916 This is not an endorsement, I have not inspected its contents. This is an opportune time to push malware. Edit again: Quote There are also other changes made to game code that require plugins to update CommonLib and recompile! So also watch out for individual DLL plugin updates in addition to this and SKSE64 update. - meh321 Edited August 21 by traison 7
BDNelson Posted August 22 Posted August 22 (edited) FO4 had one yesterday as well. Buggered up all my mods! Edited August 22 by BDNelson

I guess it will get the same treatment as Skyrim https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UOXU_ALE9MM For Skyrim, I performed this Downgrade and it works. The only thing I forgot is that I will have to manually reinstall the vcruntime140.DLL ( At least, I had to do that to block CTD on startup. Also, a suggestion from the crash logger. ) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sISUyvJROU8 Fallout4 Downgrade

Dorabella Posted August 23 Posted August 23 A little audio trick. If you can't hear the audio in your language anymore, here's a trick to trick Skyrim. Go to the Data folder of your installation. At the bottom, you'll find the two audio BSAs. Take one, temporarily remove it, and rename the one for your language to match the one you removed. Rename the removed one to the other language and put it back. Sound problem solved. Example : Skyrim - Voices_en0.bsa will need to be renamed for your language , in my case it will become Skyrim - Voices_it0.bsa . With this little trick, my Skyrim will speak Italian 😁
EHennings Posted August 24 Posted August 24 Sadly I wasn't fast enough to block the update so I did update everything to the latest and this is what I got, it doesn't work at all. I'm going to have to wait:

I'm going to have to wait: Anything that runs on DLLs will no longer work. In order to avoid a complete uninstallation, make a separate folder, go to the SKSE\Plugins folder, take all the DLLs and put them in the folder you made before, run the Downgrade as shown in the video, then block the update by editing the file indicated in the Steam folder Once the process is finished, restore the DLLs you removed . When you start the game, you will be asked for updates that cannot be done even automatically, they will go back to how they were before, you will only have them if you want them If the DLL trick doesn't work, you'll have to uninstall everything and start over. Make a Load order file with LOOT, so you'll know what you put in there.

Make a TXT of the Load Order I'm starting to think that it didn't work because I couldn't find the last file of the Address Librairy the All in One (1.6.X) in the archives to download again... (to fit with the right SKSE)

BDNelson Posted August 30 Posted August 30 LOLOL! Breakthesda strikes again!!! I haven't tried modding SAE for a couple of years now because of these "updates". I do not see how someone with over 1,000 mods installed can endure this crap! I REALLY like the "Toys" mod set, a shame I haven't been able to play any of it. I have been revisiting FO4 and Starfield in the past months with only FAILURE to show for my efforts!!! I'm beginning to think these games will never be able to be fully modded and still work. But, it's an addiction now, DAMN IT!!! BASTARDS!!! LOLOL!!!

I'd like to think it happens to everyone once, then people learn to use some method to lock their Steam install. Edit: To clarify I'm not saying I want everyone to experience it once. I'm saying just like people think buying something means they own it, there comes a time when they realize it was just a lease. Skyrim might be the first step in many people's modding journey and thus it's going to be the first place where they get slapped in the face by an update. Once you got it locked down you can get back to having fun, and Sovngarde is the limit. The unfortunate things about all this is that it would be extremely simple for Steam to fix it, and the methods people use to protect themselves aren't reliable. I sometimes worry it's because of me that things like read-only acf files no longer works properly. I can't release my current protection because every single time I did it in the past Steam came up with a patch to my workarounds a few weeks later. Probably coincidence, but this cat'n'mouse game went on for years and stopped when I went private and disabled the Steam error reporter. Edited August 30 by traison 1
BDNelson Posted August 30 Posted August 30 I meant it's not really that smart to me to install over 1,000 mods. K.I.S.S., (keep it simple stupid) just sayin'. I really try to just fix the game problems, get a good lookin' woman as my PC and enhance to existing game. I don't really like the "cheats" kinds of mods or extra stuff that doesn't really belong in the game. Example: Fallout 4 stuff in Skyrim, ummm... not for me. Most of the time I install 200 to 500 mods myself, but I have failed at every mod attempt, so I guess that's not sayin' much. Clearly, I have no idea what I'm actually doing, it's pretty much "hit & miss"\"wild shot in the dark" kinda thing for me. I haven't hit the mark yet, but who knows, maybe one day. All these guides aren't helping me much either. "BlueGunk" for instance, a mutual friend of ours, has over 1,500 mods in his MO2\SAE build. This last forced update REALLY screwed his pooch!!!! He's still trying to fix it all! I think he's trying a new version today.
JimUpdating Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Racemenu is attempting an update to use NG libraries, which may make racemenu more version proof, but also means they are likely busy compared to updating. Fuz Ro D'oh may be sometime in september, mod author is on vacation. Papyrus utilities/extensions (powerof3) not working yet. TNG is up to 1.7.99 but not 1.7.104, mod author is active and responding to posts. SkyUI is looks good - the MCM is up and running, but some people reporting glitches in inventory. 1

Hah, great joke!" but apparently there has actually been an update this April. Whether something has actually been fixed remains to be seen yet but I threw an unofficial funeral for this mod back in 1.5.97. Yes I know it was updated to 1170 obviously but people might have forgotten the 1.6.* compatible versions of RaceMenu had new and more issues than the 1.5.* compatible ones - this mod was going backwards IMO. Hoping for the best. 👍👍👍 Edit: Changelog is not looking good. Oh well, maybe those hair mod filters could be useful. Edited August 30 by traison 1
JimUpdating Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Racemenu also reporting they are using AI to try and debug/refresh the code to link with NG. So that sits on a spectrum between between genius level Frankenstein reinvigoration and desperation. Kudos to the dev if they manage it. JContainers has a test available for download https://github.com/ryobg/JContainers/releases

I am not sure if it'sexactly the acf edit that did the trick for me, but my Skyrim didn't update this time and I was able to keep on playing like nothing happened. Some previous counter measures did not work for me, Steam updated anyway. Only after the acf edit it stopped this time. My update settings on Steam are update when launching game and the acf edit. Also Steam can only install anything when launched as Admin.

All of which was supposed to be handled by the address library which was updated almost as soon as the script extender. There is no reason for a facial expression "fixer" to barf, but here we are with facial expression "fixers" having hard version checks.
Mashi Posted August 30 Posted August 30 Pretty much the only thing people can do is use MO2, create a standalone version, and let Beth screw everything up while you continue to play.
traison Posted August 30 Author Posted August 30 (edited) 11 minutes ago, DrunkenCow said: All of which was supposed to be handled by the address library... Address Library only handles the offsets it is aware of. If you want to make something new and unique, that won't be listed in the Address Library tables because no one has done it before you. That is why in my OP I said all the interesting mods may be broken, not to be read literally of course. It's the same deal with SKSE and CommonLibSSE. Edit: For instance, has anyone ever made a mod that inverses the graivity of all actors in Skyrim? Has the offset of the function that handles gravity already been found? If not, then that's a mod that will break in the next Bethesda update. I don't know what the process is like to add an offset to Address Library. I imagine there's a way to get in touch with the author. Edited August 30 by traison
