Career Suite, a secretary demotion and promotion mod

3 different mods affecting the secretary job. Do note they are heavily vibe-coded. The large ones probably aren't compatible with anything that touch the secretary job.

Sales Demotion

What goes up can come back down.

Ever felt like the game's sales job only moves in one direction? This mod fixes that. There are now six distinct, fully independent ways to lose your spot on the sales floor and land back at the secretary desk, starting back from scratch.

Here are the 6 ways to be demoted:

Spoiler
  • Poor performance: a streak of 10 missed sales in a row, or three separate 5-sale slumps, and Michael pulls you off the floor.
  • Bad reputation:  hit "Office Mattress" sexual reputation, and every day you stay there raises the odds HR finally does something about it, sales are the face of the company after all.
  • Settling into the role: voluntarily pick secretary work over sales five days running and Michael calls to check if that's just where you'd rather be. Decline, and do it five more days straight, and he won't ask again.
  • Corporate Revenge: the storyline's "-2 sales levels" choice can now become a full role demotion instead.
  • Restructuring: DynaPill's own stock (DPIL) is tradeable at Pelican Trust. Crash hard enough, and there's a real chance your position gets cut and you're reassigned per your contract.
  • Absence: ghost the job for two full weeks, and when you finally show back up, Michael's already halfway through the paperwork assuming you'd quit. All that's left is the secretary desk.

Secretary Promotion Overhaul

The ladder back up was always going to be the hard part.

This replaces the base game promotion it with an actual complex and intentionally opaque system. It's been built around the idea that you need to be good to get promoted, but being too good might be an issue.

What's in it:

  • Overtime system: You may be asked to stay for longer shifts. Say yes enough and it becomes an expectation, not a favor. Comes with 4 frequency settings: rare, default, frequent and exponential (the later meaning low frequency at the start, but it raises sharply with expectations.
  • Daily goals: a quiet target for secretary-point output each shift, mesuring how performant you are.
  • Weekly review: You get a weekly review of your performance as a secretary. Will you be able to understand all that misleading corporate jargon to figure out how things are going?
  • The interviewOf course getting promoted isn't a simple as reaching goals, there it a actual interview you have to go through.
  • Three difficulty tiers: Lite, Default, and Impossible, Lite gives you the entire overhaul, with making promotion especially difficult. Default is essentially how the mod was envisioned, getting stuck as a secretary is a serious threat, especially if you don't try to understand the system. Impossible is pretty self-explanatory, the vibe it's supposed to give is, promotion is just a pipe dream, an unattainable reward which exist just to motivate you, balanced, when you understand the system, to make you feel like the goalpost gets moved every time you reach the goals.

A note on balance: This is a mod with many different metrics being mesured to decide on promotion, and their balance has only been tested by one person: me. That's about as narrow and biased a test pool as it gets, and as such it may still be very unbalanced.

People Pleaser → Secretary Compulsion

A small modlet I made just to start learning modding. Inspired by the brainless bimbo side-effect giving you the compulsion to go shopping instead of whatever you had planned, this mod adds an even when showing up to work in which the people pleaser side-effect gives you the compulsion to work as a secretary.

CareerSuite (all-in-one)

All three of the above, bundled into a single package.
