The CTD with FNIS

Recommended Posts

I'm fairly new and don't think I've made a post yet so the funny thing is the first post I'll be making is asking for help.

A good amount of mods that use FNIS on this forum make me CTD(crash to desktop) right after the beginning credits which makes me unable to enjoy the many great mods this site has to offer despite having done everything properly.

A list of mods that make me CTD:

Devious Devices intergration(yet I can still use asets, no FNIS)

Sanguines Debauchery

Those two alone I think you can already figure out why I've oped for help despite being able to name many more that aren't as important.

Any help would be appreciated.

FNIS now is blamed VERY often, because it seem to be the reason for many different CTDs. But

the cause of all CTDs is Skyrim, not FNIS

Skyrim has a buggy memory management, and because FNIS utilizes the memory in many different sizes (depending on number of mods, patches, and so on) some people see CTDs (in particular Pinup users), and some don't.

Zhis is addressed in several mods. Most promising seems sheson's Skyrim Memory Patch - fixing ILS, uGrids CTD, freezes. This fix is also integrated into the new SKSE beta version.

Please spread the word.

Crashing on loading can be caused by:

Mod dependencies not being met

bad load order

Skeleton/mesh issues

script conflict

FNIS not being run for whatever mods you have

unclean masters

missing patches (Unofficial ones spring to mind)

Not starting with the skse loader

memory management (as fore suggested)

resource overload (too many mods for the system and/or engine)

mod incompatibilities (one bad apple does spoil the whole bunch)

and other undiscovered reasons

Just posting that FNIS is causing it is silly, and . . .

You didn't provide enough information for anyone to help you.

The "Pinned" topic at the start of this forum, and the "Pinned" topic at the start of the Skyrim Technical Support Forum are very good things to read.

Despite my inability to clearly read pinned threads I thank everyone who replied to this and the problem is fixed.

so... was it FNIS that was causing the issue?
