Barbarian Explorer - Another issue with these old armors

or to be precise the releases of UrbanNomadNome.

I have finished the conversion to my body. But when I test for clipping I see this issue.

I can see the strings at the front through the back of the NPC's. I seem to remember having this issue in LE as well.

Tried several AI solutions. But those are hit and very much "Miss".

This is a pic of the issue. Could be some kind of transparency or NiAlpha issue.image.thumb.png.d9db39c5bca15bfe4c48c76bc5d60c7f.png

Have you checked the flags on the BSTriShapes and BSLightingShaderProperty nodes? Like ZBuffer_Test, ZBuffer_Write, Selective Updates or Disable Sorting? I do not know what these flags do but I see a rendering order issue here.

Comparing this string part of the armor with another one that works. It is missing "Double Sided" in Shader Flags 2.

But I already tried that. Did not work.

Looking at it this way, it seems like an incomplete ZAP Slider was created.

Any way to do something about that. Not an expert on Zap sliders.

If the NIF was created using a ZAP Slider, it is visible in Bodyslide . It might also be named differently. If it exists, you can correct it to resolve the issue encountered.

I don't have these Zap options in my Bodyslide.

In-game mesh??

The one built by BodySlide, the one used by the game where the problem is present. To avoid wasting time analyzing a mesh that is subject to changes and where the problem may not yet exist.

Problem replicated. It's visible in NifSkope too interestingly; that rules out everything BodySlide and Outfit Studio related like zap sliders. So far everything looks fine in Blender.

Edit: Quite interesting that it's only a subset of one BSTriShape that has the wrong render order, and that its not visible through some polygons.

Yeah. Just checked Nifscope. You are right.

I might do some experiments in Nifscope then.

Barbarian Explorer is a very old armor set from the LE Sevenbase 7B times.

I seem to remember having this issue with the armor in LE as well. Can't remember if I ever found a solution.

Never got around to converting it for my body.

Weird thing is that it is only that small part of strings in the front. And the mesh shape is all around the body.

Does not make sense.

Unfortunately I do not know what the problem is.

  • Normals are all pointing the right way.
  • There's some messed up polygons but that's not it.
  • The partitions could use some work but that's not it either.

If I had to fix this right now, I'd attempt something like this:

  • Split the front strings into its own BSTriShape, separate from the rear strings.
  • Import it into Blender and export again, hoping the issue goes away.

I imagine since you know how to animate, the things above you can do yourself. I'm off to lunch so I'm not doing those tests now at least.

Simply importing the mesh into Blender and exporting it again fixed the issue. Still don't know why it was broken. I don't have time to compare the before and after nifs.

Weird. Thanks.

I have 3DSMax 2012 installed. But beyond making animations I know next to nothing about it.

Some time I would like to install Blender and check it out.

This means that the nif's are fixed or what?? - Can You 7zip them and upload here.

Then I would owe You thanks again.

I'd rather fix the BodySlide mesh instead of the 2 uploaded previously. That is assuming this is a BS project?

Yeah it is. But then I would have to fix all the clippings and the shape again.

Then I'd rather drop it.

Bodyslide does not do a good job most of the time.

Some sliders practically ruin the outfits. Like the "Melons or Double Melon" slider. Cleavage and Breastwidth are the same issue.

The armor will fuck up just between the tits. I am having to use the "Smooth" option to sort it out every time. And that does not always work.

But the bodyslide is here.
