ItsAlazsha Posted May 28 Posted May 28 Hello so I just started back making wickedwhims animations and is there any better rigs out there to make my wickedwhims animations more smoother I already have the ones by dagger and the edit version by khlas but I feel like when I make animations they dont be as smooth or boucey I guess as some other creators like I feel like my animations are missing something or I need to watch more tutorials so if anyone knows any other rigs or how to make my animations better let me know with more realistic movementsÂ
Frissons Posted May 30 Posted May 30 Hello, I recommend you to use a lot of image references (still images) and try to reproduce them in Blender.Â
SAFMeiko Posted May 31 Posted May 31 I'm also struggling with how to create animations, and I'd like to know some good rigs and methods. Dagger isn't compatible with 4.0.

I'm using it with the 4.3.2 version and it works just fine. Are you sure there's nothing wrong at your end?Â

But just getting the poses right will help you coordinate the movements. It will make more sense to you. As for Blender, you can pick any tutorial depending on what you need, they all good tbf.Â

dreamymuse Posted Monday at 05:37 AM Posted Monday at 05:37 AM It's not often I can throw my hat in the ring! But I think I can help 😄 I took an animation course back in 2014, they taught us using Maya instead of Blender as it was an industry standard. The only advice I can give you is find a reference video, or make your own. After that, there are two methods you can animate, referencing or rotoscoping. Rotoscoping is common and Disney animators were known to use this method to create most of - if not all their movies. Both methods are pretty much the same animation wise, it's just how you use your reference material. Make the animation 30 frames a second at least, this will ensure the animation is smooth. 24 frames a second is okay, but it can look choppy. Try to match the key poses as best as you can, then create in-between frames. In-between frames are the most important frames in any animation. You can choose to create a frame every 3, 2 or 1 frame. Animating on 1s is redundant, unless you are rotoscoping. Rotoscoping is kinda like tracing, but not? In your animation program of choice you can import the video you want to use as your rotoscoping reference and animate on top of it. It is possible for 3D animation, I have done it. Took some fine tuning after I got the basic animation down. Also, the graph editor is going to become your best friend. This is where you will spend the majority of your time, dialing in the timing and poses. This video does a better job at explaining the graph editor than I ever could! It's a super powerful tool that most people tend to overlook Spoiler  I hope this helps 1
