FNIS, NEMESIS and PANDORA, which one to use, how to use and why?

I have been modding skyrim for a good while, for most of the time FNIS was basically the single "behaviour" engine thingy basically everyone needed to use to add animations (specially with SL), but then those fancy combat mods and nemesis became popular, i remember having to run fnis and nemesis together (and do some manual file placements) to get them both to more or less work "flawlessly", now I come back after a while to see that pandora is now a thing, but a question remains in my mind...

If Im using SL (and lots of SLAL animations) is it possible to switch to pandora? does pandora works with the fancy combat stuff? or would I still need to deal with nemessis shittery and jankyness?
From what I've read around I would still need to use fnis with one of those two to get all of the stuff working, so for now I sit questioning all of this...

So if you could give me a hand in answering this, I would be very happy (currently im just using fnis and no fancy combat mods and stuff)

Honestly, I've been using pandora for a hot minute. Works great with ALL FNIS and Nemesis mods. If you use MO2 I can copy in the arguments needed to run it through the program. I use SL and a few animation packs plus lots and lots of nemesis animations

sure, tho honestly Im currently using vortex (so i might use that if i migrate or restart this amazing chaos that is modding), but do you use creature stuff or not? because from what ive seen (and experienced with nemesis previously) it is were I come back running to fnis (or accept the pain of manually moving and copying files... everytime something changes...)

Do you need any patching or the dreaded "copy and replace stuff"? if that is the case I will never ever need to endure the combat I already grew tired of!!!!!

No. I use pandora 2.4 (older, but is the one version that works flawlessly for me) with the xpmsse patch disabled (causes crashes for me) and instead https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/176724. Never used nemesis, stopped using fnis years ago on the old old mod list. No reason to keep anything else around, pandora all the way.
And MO2, of course. Edited by the0fromnexus

I highly recommend MO2 f you're a power modder in any way. It works way better for larger modlists. this is what my handmade modlist looks like. I based it off of Skyrim Modding Essentials on Wabbajack. Great place to start at

thanks for the answer, I will look more into it, tho for now I think I will first finish my playthrough and then partially rebuild and re-asses my mods and prepare for the pandora shift

and on the mod ammount, I usually keep it conservative, I usually like to keep most of the game pretty vanilla honestly, tho I usually install some retexture or combat overhauls depending on my mood

If you go with Pandora, don't forget to grab the scripts from FNIS, otherwise SL and XPMSE will complain.

Hello. Don't mean to hijack the author's post, just saw that SolothurnXXIV mentioned something about arguments. I recently began rebuilding my modlist, and switched to Pandora + MO2. Could you please share what is needed? I haven't gotten to adding animations yet, but I plan to use SL and DD and knowing beforehand if I need to do anything special to make them work would be great.
