purpleprop Posted May 12 Posted May 12 Sorry if this doesnt belong here. Question, I use to play modded Skyrim back in the day with sexlabs and all that, Now I see a lot of stuff with Ostim which wasnt even a thing back in the day, didnt even exist. I understand different mods have different requirements and all that so my question is for Skyrim SE is there a sort of standard version I should aim to get both for the game itself and for Ostim itself? And are there downgraders if required available that work? Im pretty sure my steam version of Skyrim SE will always be the latest. In other words, is there a gold standard that most people would say "get this version of skyrim and get this version of ostim, after that most things will work" In case it matters at all im less interested in graphics and more interested in doing quests people create with working animations and all that, I pretty much dont care if the characters or textures look like ass. Also playing regular Skyrim SE not VR.

Your Skyrim SE doesn't exist anymore if you've let Steam run at any point in the past 5 or so years. It was replaced by Skyrim AE back in 2021. 10 minutes ago, purpleprop said: I understand different mods have different requirements... And that's what's going to define which game version you will be using. 11 minutes ago, purpleprop said: In case it matters at all im less interested in graphics and more interested in doing quests people create with working animations and all that... In that case you want game version 1170, and if the O-mods don't support that you need to ask yourself which one you care about the most. I'll preface the next bit by saying I like Steam for being the last bastion of sanity in the gaming sphere, and GOG for their DRM-free alternatives - I buy GOG first 100% of the time. If you're concerned with preserving Skyrim for the day when Steam no longer exists, or Bethesda decides your license has expired, then consider instead version 1179 from GOG. Personally I would not buy this one from GOG because of mod compatibility reasons, and instead look into making the Steam version truly yours if you know what I mean. Easy for me to say perhaps since I have 35 years of experience with computers but those be your options.
