Starfield: “The Hive”

TheHive.png.44e4ce8c08067bd753c4f3dba351dd4d.png

Infestation types (you can only have one of each type infection at once, you’re immune from having a second one while one is active but you can still acquire a different type such as an egg infestation & brain worm, but not two egg infestations):

>Egg Infestation | The most common type of infestation, happening from a variety of creatures, gives the player a status like “You’ve been infested by _________’s eggs”.  While infected, the player (or NPC infected) will occasionally crotch down and lay that creature’s eggs. These commonly are acquired from killing or sleeping with said creatures. Eating or feeding the eggs to another person will cause the infection as well or refresh the current infection, NPCs that acquire this will not lose this disease unless given “Paracur-a”
>Testicular Slug | This disease requires the prerequisite of the character being male to acquire it, this disease comes in stages from barely noticeable -> obsession, while it can last a certain amount of time if had to long it may be permanent. Testicular slugs will be announced by “a ________ has crawled into your sack”. Stage 1: barely any differences occur besides slushhing sound every so often (when not in dialogue) - Stage 2: occurs after 7 days or a second trigger of this specific species’ occurs, movement is ever soo slightly reduced, more prominent slushhing sound effects as well as moaning ever so slightly - Stage 3: occurs after 7 more days or a 5th trigger occurs, this effect has the player spawning 1 of the type of creature infesting them as a friendly, their movement further reduced to a noticeable point but not *tooo* much and more player moaning - Stage 4 (Permanent): final and incurable stage of testicular slugs, if the player reached this point it’d be too late to go back, unlocks unique dialogue options in the questline as well as giving the player the ability to spawn a creature that infested them whenever they want thats friendly, constant slushing sounds when they move and -10% movement speed. If the player is not at T4, they can be easily cured by going to any doctor or consuming Paracur-a. These can spread via infestation as usual or intercource with an infested individual

>Brain Slug | a rare disease that can occur from medical experiments or certain creatures dominating the player, once acquired the only cure for them is getting infested by a different ailment such as brain-squids or egg infestation in which the parasite may want to leave the body (however, they will stay in-case of tentacles, worms, or other types of slugs. These slugs whisper lewd things and beg them to spread and breed to make them grow stronger, but otherwise are harmless [Applies the: "Broken Mind" Perk while infested]

>Attachment | the most visual of diseases since these are extremely rare and are seen on the player such as a brain-squid sucking the player’s brain or a Terramorph queen’s ovipositor these have very specific ways to acquire like almost dying in combat to one or completing a questline and give massive benefits.
>Worm | functionally, this is the same as an egg infestation, however instead of laying eggs, you lay out smaller versions of whatever creature infested you and is flavoured to be more on theme for creatures like grubs and worms.

>Tentacled Womb | A very rare occurrence, but can occur even without questing while swimming, a tentacled womb, despite the name, can occur to both genders. “You feel something swirling around inside of you” being the text you see once infected and has no gameplay functionally, its just there for more infestation flavor and lasts 2 weeks.

3 new decor items are added in this mod being an “Egg” a “Terramorph Egg” and a “Horny Tentacle” that are all decorative items, the egg being a replica of any egg the player has laid before, they can display, the Terramorph Egg being a unique egg since its dropped from the Terramorph Queen boss, it is a massive egg about 1/3rd of the player’s height that growls when interacted with. And the Torny Tentacle is an interactable tentacle that infects the player with a random egg infestation.

Consumables:

Tainted Canned Fish | A food item that when drunken has a random chance to apply an egg infestation to the player/NPC that ate it
Tainted Soda Can | A drink item that when drunken has a random chance to apply an egg infestation to the player/NPC that drank it

Paracur-a | Sold by most food/doctor merchants, it acts as a (mostly) cure-all for parasitic diseases… just don’t read into the side-effects to often

I'm still working on the quest side of this concept but that'll probably be done soon! :3

I am sadly, not a game designer so I wouldn't know how to setup a good story into a gameplay format, but this is my best attempt, of course since this is just a *concept* nothing set in stone and is just to give a general idea:

Questline Concept:

While flying in space, just outside any capital city, the player can receive an emergency signal broadcast, when interacted with they can hear the following voice file:

“H-hello, is anyone out there!?? This is Applicant, Roger Hibender of the A.A. Daris Station, we- *banging sounds and gunshots* we’ve had a containment breach on Sub-section 0, requesting i-im *static* evac wi-within 0 *gunshots and gurgling sound-effects before crashing to the floor and AI voice takeover* System error detected in CARGO BAY, Communication system damaged, outgoing log now on loop”

Upon listening to the signal, a new quest will pop up in the player’s log “The Last Brood” as well as a marker to track the signal of the A.A. Daris Station to its crashed planet. The signal can be located on any infested planet and if the player randomly stumbles upon the crash-site while exploring, the radio broadcast is skipped.

The station is a massive-crashed science vessel, over-grown by infested vines and trees, clearly abandoned for a long time.

Upon interacting with the doors, the player is loaded into an instanced dungeon, flickering lights, debris blocking certain pathways making it very linear. First crawling through an opened vent on the left entering a bio-engineering bay with lines of crashed and knocked over planters and plants as well as few heatleechs, next to the barricaded door is the corpse of a Dr. Exhort, with a shotgun and key in his hand which can be acquired upon looting him and next to him is a note reporting about genetically engineering a gaseous chemical that mutates the plants in the room to reproduce via human byproducts having side-effects such as infecting certain individuals such as Subject 025 and had to lock them in quarantine till a cure was found, till then Dr. Exhort is to monitor all activity since they heard movement in the vents above the bio-engineering store-room and worried about an infestation of hamsters breaking out or whatever lingers out there”

Using the keys to unlock the door, the player is met by a blind Terrormorph wandering the hallways with extreme armor plating, bullets richotte off of it, however meele does 2x damage, leading players to tank it or sneaking around the facility to explore, obviously the opening of the door is ignored by the terramorph to not lead to spawn-camping of the player exiting the room and giving them a chance. The hallway connects to 4 rooms and a fake interior garden with dome over the tree shattered and infested vines leaking in, the tree in the middle tumbled over leading as a walkway into the vents for stealthy players, however the vents may have xenogrubs & heatleechs in them.

Across from the Bio-engineering room is the medical bay & quarentine center, the room was heavily damaged from the crash with an infested man wandering the room, he chants “breeeddddddd, spreadddddd forrrr meeeee, I smeellllll youuu”, “*clicking sounds*” “youuuu’lllll beeee oneeeee offff usssss, theyyy onlyyy want to hellpppppp yououuuuuu”, the infested individual has the name: “Subject 099” but getting to the other side of the room undetected (or via killing him, which leads to him exploding into 20 of a random “brain-slug” breed), you can meet “Subject 025” behind a glass cage who can be spoken through behind the glass, he is dehydrated and hungry, looking tired at the player. He bangs against the glass slowly and with no rhyme. Speaking to him barely does much as his brain and mind seems drained and no longer there and if lockpicked out, he’ll wander into the hallway and die (unless the terramorph was taken care of, then he’ll just sit on the bench in the interior garden and mumble, however can be pickpocketed to acquire “tainted canned fish”

Notes around the medical wing (as well as a barely functional terminal), can bring up a story on what happened, Subject 099 was originally a Janitor by the name Friggid Dames, who was in charge of cooking and feeding the patients around the facility, but after cooking a meal with tainted fish unknowingly, his body was infested by some sort of parasite making him act erratic and dominating towards the remaining staff and proceeded to lock the door leaving him in there with Subject 025 and the infirmary patients, though infested, he kept repeating his original daily tasks of taking food from the stock and feeding them, though all the food had become tainted by then, the patient somehow kept their previous motor functions and memories. Other notes bring up medical histories of a few of the staff members such as Dr. Exhort’s drinking problems, Jimmy Rockets fascination with animals and failed reports to Avix’s HR department and Subject 111 who was coughing up maggots every so often.

Back into the hallways, nothing has really changed but I can bring up more details now such as two dead security guards in front a barricade blocking one of the rooms

In the non-barricaded room are the staff’s sleep quarters, including 10 bunk-beds built into the wall, a poker table and chess table as well as a few suitcases. On top of the chess-table is a jury-rigged radio setup with a dead Roger Hibender on it, and once the player gets close, the explode into 10 heatleechs, the bathroom door behind them lays locked with the key to the bathroom hidden under a pillow, in the room is dirty magazines as well as a poster for the terramorph movie coming out soon.

After exiting the room, there is one last option to go, a hole burrowed into the walls of the shuttle, a tunnel dug into the mountain, eggs and a gooey substance line the walls, reducing movement speed and making a squishing sound as stepped on, the gooey webs blocking the path can be cut with a melee attack and you can push forth, fighting heatleeches along the way until you enter a hive room, which has two elevated sides and an indented middle section, sneaking around you can find Jimmy Rocket webbed and sewn into the wall, his belly engorged and his body purplish and mutated with hardened features and a dead Dr. Darin with a flamethrower and terminal book written about the worsening state of Subject 111 and her descent when she broke into the cargo bay and shut down the propeller systems releasing 3 terramorphs in heat.

In the middle of the room is a large, 4 legged beast with a large ovipositor attached to the end of her, her torso and busty chest skin like while the rest of her body is like a centurian & silverfish combined. The room is FILLED with terramorph eggs as well as two passive (for now) terramorphs on either side who growl and attack if you get too close.

When you enter dialogue with “The Queen” she clicks and whispers sweet nothings to the player offering them power and ecstasy like no other.. This is about as far as I could get before I got tired (I had to draw like 4 infestation commissions early today, I’m sooooorrryyy XD)

Again... idk why this block of text is bold
