Derelict Asp's Bite

I stumbled over Derelict Asp's Bite today, and and noticed a couple bugs:

 

(1) I was taking environmental damage while in the pause menu, and

 

(2) There were a couple of Chunks on a table which says something odd about the story line for that ship.

I encountered this ship early on my first play through. It kills you pretty fast. I’ve always wondered if you could combat the toxic atmosphere with a hazmat suit on this ship. Which is kind of ridiculous that it even does damage through a self contained space suit.
