Gaming on Linux, but where's my mod manager?

This was huge question and took time and effort, to make MO2 or Vortex running on Linux distributions.

Now that's over, the cancelled Vortex Appimage modmanager was picked up by ChrisDKN and appeared as native Linux appimage. It supports a lot of games, comec with a 'free definition', so we can add at the moment not listed games. It's running fast, with user permissions, has rapid deployment and can launch XEdit or Bodyslde, Nemesis just from it's gui. It's running here succesfull with following modded games.

Fallout-4 GOG

Cyberpunk 2077 Steam

Nehrim at fates egde

Oblivion Classis Steam

Obvlivion Remaster Steam

Skyrim AE Steam

I'm not the developer, but a big supporter with testing and help. You can watch some usage videos on my YT Channel.

Amethyst - a Linux Mod Manager

Since i'm gaming under Linux (with mods) since 2023 i cheer this software. Maybe some have seen the Steam survey, that Linux gamers  rolled from 7 millions to 20 millions. 2 millions alone on CachyOS, same as Zorin-OS placed 1 million new users gaming with it at october 18, 2025 as Windows 10 ended support.

How will we game in 10 years and under which platform will games be developed.......

For (most) Bethesda games you can use Proton MO installer. If you bough games on GOG (as you actually should), you can still park them through steam as external games and it will run just fine.

For anything else - there isn't just a universal solution, some games have enthusiasts creating very simple mod managers that do a base copy/move, but I think just a clever symlink structure and a centralized mod distribution hub as a location do all of the job for package-shaped mods. The loose file mods - well, that's indeed a pain, but hey, that's life.
