darkfender666 Posted March 11 Posted March 11 So i have windows 11 my Skyrim worked perfectly forever and did not touch a thing used it quite often. Yesterday i installed KB5079473 Today loading times tripled or quadrupled. When in game FPS drop to 10-15 and game often crashed. (i have a gaming pc with geforce5070ti so performance is not the problem). Tried to update both SKSE and GPU drivers nothing changed. Pressing shift+enter to open SKSE menu i noticed an error: D:\Program files (X86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\effect.txt(1,1):error X3000: unrecognized identifier 'THIS' I noticed that file started with a comment with the word THIS so i added // on first 2 lines I got an error on 3rd line that started with */ I also added // to 3rd line and loading time reduced but still long. Yet when i start the framerate is still about 12-15 fps and if i press SHIFT+ENTER now i see a loading icon (hourglass from skse i suppose). After a minute i get an message (different fonts) about "bloom being controlled externally" after few seconds that message disappears. Any idea on how to fix? Everything worked well for years and its not something i can fix with tes5edit. In my load order i did not find any ENB either despite i surely have some lighting mod.
Imperfection Posted March 12 Posted March 12 (edited) if you really think its KB5079473 then uninstall it and test: Settings > Windows Update > Update History > Uninstall Updates > KB5079473 >uninstall or Elevated command prompt > wusa /uninstall /kb:5079473 > reboot Also Shift-Enter does not open SKSE it opens ENB, I will asumm that was a typo, and ENB is not normally found in your load order as its installed directly in the skyrim folder. I uninstalled it and now everything works but that is an important update. Any idea on what to do now? And you are right the issue was with the ENB but i have 200 mods and i don't find it listed in NMM. maybe i installed it manually? i really forgot after years how to check ENB Any help on where to go from here would be appreciated.
Imperfection Posted March 13 Posted March 13 (edited) Try different ENB or disable for testing, I have that update installed and still have 60 frames and I use this ENB Silent Horizons ENB at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community Keep in mind i have not tested all areas so may be area specific. I am running Skyrim SE v1170 and ENB 5.03 just for comparison, I use MO2 and have zero experience with NMM ENB is almost always intalled manually you will need to check what one your running but you can try disabling by removing or renaming d3d11.dll and d3dcompiler_46e.dll in skyrim folder and see if your issue persists, these are the 2 core files for ENB, there is also an enbseries folder but I think removing those 2 should be enough for testing. Just out of curitosity D:\Program files (X86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim\, is this your real "Program Files (x86)" folder? ie you dont have one on your "C:\" drive? Installing games in C:\Program Files\ or C:\Program Files (x86) folder is a known issue and should be avoided due to extra security on that folder structure, better is D:\Games\... as example. You might also try this mod if you are not running already: Disk Cache Enabler at Skyrim Special Edition Nexus - Mods and Community Edited March 13 by Imperfection added mod link 1
darkfender666 Posted March 14 Author Posted March 14 i use oldrim and yes its on D while windows is on C I have 3 drives 2 NVME and 1 SSD i think skyrim is on second NVME Also the folder "program files" is in all 3 of them. Will try to remove old ENB when i have a bit of time to be sure to not break anything.
