Disgaea Mayhem looks worth modding.

first attempt at a release for the modding suite, I had to remove the camera mods I attached to the suite since they were causing weird async issues. i'll prolly look into releasing the camera mod as standalone.

Python 3.10 or newer is needed. to preview textures, the START_SUITE.bat should prompt to install pillow and numpy. it also comes with 7z.exe and texconv.exe files in the TOOLS folder which are used by the suite to preview textures. These are standard unedited exes, one is useful for everyday zipping and textconv comes from Microsoft themselves.

make sure to read the README for instructions but it's pretty basic.

The way this suite works is by patching the model_1_00.dat file so the suite automatically makes a backup and patches the new one over. It has a restore option for safety.

Textures and meshes are edited separately.

There is a vertices limit attached to every submesh inside the mesh or the game will crash. The suite will stop injecting and let you know which submesh is causing the issue. One trick I found is you can delete vertices or parts inside a submesh to make room for more inside that specific submesh for more smoothness. subdividing and merge by distance on the mesh should work.

The game's default mesh types are some unknown type called .nmbm so the suite extracts and converts them to .glb

Once imported to blender, hide the skeleton(the bones bubbles will hide the model) to view the model correctly. Textures are auto-extracted with the mesh.

I used Blender 4.5 to test. To extract from Blender: choose glb, making sure Data->Mesh->Attributes is checked.

Texture files are labeled _d and _s . _d is the diffuse/color file and _s is for specular shadows and other types. Probably will have to edit both.

Recommend PAINT.NET for textures. save as BC7 DirectX11+ for dds.

You can edit pngs directly in blender over the mesh, just save em as 8-bit.

You will need the suite to patch the game and people can share their edited textures and .glb to inject.

Also, this tool is not perfect and I haven't tested it on all the meshes

hopefully someone can try this out

if not, let your favorite gooner modder know and maybe they'll be interested

There's probably more quick notes i forgot.

pls let me know if there are issues or anything. I just like to make mods for fun

Great to see a tool for modding show up, so soon after the game's release too! Hopefully this game gets some good mods thanks to this. (And hopefully, it leads to other Disgaea games getting mods too. I'd love to have some big tiddy mods for Disgaea 7.) By the way, how are the mods you showed screenshots of earlier coming along?

I deleted them cause I was just messing around in testing lol. I can make some quick ez mods tho, if you want, just give me some references

I like Neko Musume Zoku and Yoma Zoku, the old design by ryoji where C-string without strings around the waist was the lower body, but can you do that kind of feeling?

Well, if you can, it'd be great if you could try to recreate the mods you showed in your screenshots, with the feedback I provided in my prior posts incorporated.
