please PLEASE point me to a list of what SMP PE BHUNP CBBE HDT etc all stand for everyone of your abbreviations.

Ive only gotten to a pre poly pre jiggly LE state of modding and its been fun but now i want there to be the colliding of shit happening and slight jiggle in the ass of my toon with an anus that stretches and closes as the dicks are busy hurting it... PLEASE EXPLAIN ALL THE ABBREVIATIONS FOR ME and i mean just what they all stand for i can look up the rest myself, im old, i havent cozied up to AI yet so help an old geezer out please. oh yeah and.... HydrogensaysHDT is the handle of the author of physics extensions mods first introduced as HDT-PE (PE = physics extensions) adding additional functionality and control to the already existing Havok physics system in Skyrim.

 

HDT-SMP is the successor to HDT-PE.  SMP = Skinned Mesh Physics.  This uses bullet physics and collision shapes/proxy shapes to achieve better collision.  For example, having hair collide with and not clip through the body or the ground is possible with HDT-SMP but not HDT-PE due to the introduction of multiple collision shapes in HDT-SMP.

 

BHUNP is a body type introduced by Bakafactory/BakaHaeun meant to be a successor to UNP or UUNP.  UNP, UUNP and BHUNP all use the same texture UV as the vanilla game, meaning textures made for those bodies will be interchangeable with BHUNP.  CBBE/3BA uses a different texture UV map so you must use textures made for CBBE/3BA.

 

3BBB simply means a "3 breast bone body" referring to the number of nodes in the skeleton to which weights can be painted on the mesh.  More nodes = more control over movement and potentially better results though this depends on the quality of the configuration and the proportions of the mesh.

 

CBPC = Custom Body Physics with Collisions.  HDT-PE doesn't work on SSE so this physics solution was developed.  It uses spheres to control collision behavior instead of vertices.

 

Common misnomers: 

  • HDT is not a thing.  Many people continue to refer to physics configs simply as "HDT."  HDT is a person and refers to the author of these physics systems.  The type of physics should always be referred to by its proper designation, meaning CPBC, HDT-PE or HDT-SMP.
  • 3BBB is used by BHUNP, CBBE and 3BA.  UUNP only has 2 nodes per breast and they are different from the 3 that are present in 3BBB.
  • HDT-SMP was first introduced for LE.  Out of pure ignorance, many users who only began playing Skyrim after 2015 with SSE continue to believe that LE doesn't support HDT-SMP.  However, HDT-SMP is very demanding and difficult to configure.  Faster HDT-SMP has made this solution more accessible but it is developed for 64-bit binaries so you must be on SSE to take advantage of it.

If you wish to continue using LE then your options are limited to HDT-PE and partial HDT-SMP support.  If you are willing to switch to SSE you have many more options in CBPC and HDT-SMP/Faster HDT-SMP for collisions, equipment and hair physics.
