Nuka World not accessible after backport to 1.10.163

Hey everyone,

 

maybe someone has faced the same problem and found a solution. 

 

A few months ago I opened Fallout 4 after a long pause. Little did I know, in the meantime it got updated by Steam to Next Gen. So a big chunk of the 300+ mods I had wasn't working anymore. Looking up the problem showed that there were options available. The most promising was to use tools to download the old archives. 

 

Only problem: Steam has blocked some old archives, including those that consist of Pre NG Nuka World. So the entire game runs just fine in 1.10.163, but when I try to enter Nuka World the game immediately crashes. It happens specifically as soon as I enter the Nuka World exterior. I can teleport via command to the interior. Mind you, I tried running the game completely fresh vanilla. 

 

I tried finding the archives elsewhere in the internet, but it seems those which have existed at some point have been taken down due to legal reasons. Pirates might be more successful, but I'm not well versed in those ways and afraid of doing more harm to myself and my computer than I could afford. 

 

The reason I want to enter Nuka World is because of Nuka Ride. Also despite owning Fallout 4 and all the addons for such a long time I have never been to Nuka World. Also, I'm not entirely sure if NG really still has such an issue with mod compatibility. Since I first tried downgrading I have reduced my modlist dramatically. But not every single one has specified compatibility with NG. Let's take Nuka Ride for example. On the mods page there is no word about it. Can I expect it and most other LL mods to work if I decide to just go for NG?

Okay, so if I understand everything correctly I need the following original files from 1.10.163

In the Fallout 4 game forum on Nexus you can get a guide on how to download the depots from Steam for the english game version 163 in the first stickied post. You find Nuka World under step 10 and 11. I tested it out. You need a bit patience during download as Steam doesn't show progress. I am a bit in doubt that this is the reason for your problems, but perhaps it's worth a try.

I know the guides, but apparently Steam has blocked some older archives in the meantime. I can download most of them but the ones impacting Nuka World are gone. 

 

But I think I found a solution: GOG lets you revert to previous Fallout versions. So I'm currently downloading the game via GOG and in a first try will just copy the files to the steam installation. If that doesn't work flawlessyly I will try to just change the directory in MO2. As far as I know there are no incompatibilites between any mods and the GOG version.

GoG might be a solutution, but as I have written I downloaded the depots yesterday and nothing was blocked. I believe these are still the right ones and I can open the esm with the CK for game version 163.

That's very strange that it worked for you. I'm not one to be afraid of admitting that I make mistakes sometimes, but obviously I was not too stupid to download all the other depots. 

 

Anyways, using the files from the GOG installation worked out just fine. I can now access Nuka World without any issue.
