Kain82 Posted January 8 Posted January 8 (edited) The game was working fine for 3 weeks in a row and now when I want to start a new game I get an infinite loading screen. I have not added any new mods nor removed any mods the mod list is the same but I get the infinite loading screen. I have googled to see if there was a fix and it keeps saying that it could be too many mods but I only have 132 mods installed. Whereas others have up to 2000 mods installed and have no problem. God I hate this game the only reason I play it is because of the gameplay. With Skyrim I have over a 1000 mods installed and no problems but F04 132 mods and the game and it struggles. I am playing the OG version that's on GOG.com and using the unofficial patch which does nothing to fix the problem. Edit: Forgot to say when loading a save game the game loads fine. I only have a problem when starting a new game. Edited January 8 by Kain82
Kain82 Posted January 8 Author Posted January 8 I let the forum moderator know that I wish this post be moved to the correct thread.
subaverage Posted January 8 Posted January 8 If this only happens when you start a new playthrough it can mean that you have mods that shall or must not be loaded before you left Vault 111 the first time. (Other users state that it's enough to get your Pip-Boy). So you could try to disable all your mods and start a new game. No F4SE, no nothing. Start through the Fallout4.exe. If it works play to a.m. point and save. Begin to reenable your mods in little steps with a lot of testing.

I will however say I use the StartMeUp Redux alternate start mod. Is that okay to keep activated?
subaverage Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I really don't know. This is probably a matter of trial and error, but when you can start a new playthrough with the mod enabled it's most likely ok.
Joe_Oni Posted January 8 Posted January 8 I've had problems starting a new game with so many mods. It's rare that I can get the game to work from the start so I just ended up downloaded a clean save in the vault and just load my preset and edits at the vault exit
Kain82 Posted January 9 Author Posted January 9 Thank you all for your replies but I have narrowed it down. While I was troubleshooting I noticed that this problem was not unique to just one profile but all profiles. So I said what do all three profiles have in common? It had to be something I installed once and never looked back and that indeed was an ENB. A couple of days ago I installed the Natural and Decent ENB from nexus while I already had made a character and was mid game so I did not notice. It became apparent when I retired that character and tried to start a new game. Well I am relieved the problem is solved. Thanks again for the replies and help. 1 hour ago, Joe_Oni said: I've had problems starting a new game with so many mods. subaverage Posted January 9 Posted January 9 (edited) First of all I am glad you yould solve your problem. Just to clarify it, because I hear the first time that an ENB prevents the game from starting a new playthrough and this might be a useful information for others, too: With your ENB you could load a save, but not start a new game and without this ENB both works, right? Maybe this might not even be limited to a certain ENB. Edited January 9 by subaverage

Without the ENB I can both load a save and start a new game. Edited January 9 by Kain82
JJuice Posted January 24 Posted January 24 If you have any script logging enabled you can get some clues: C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Logs\Script Look for the Papyrus.0.log file. C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\Logs\Script\User C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\My Games\Fallout4\F4SE Look at your most recent log, or crashlog file.
