Skyrim no access to mods?

Hello!

So i had skyrim SE installed since long ago(disable updates). So its not updated to AE version. My old Skyrim LE version is heavily modded and works fine.

But on Skyrim SE i cant even access mods? I cant even create a bethesta account or login until ive updated the game?

Are you now forced to update to latest version and login to use any mods at all now days? Or is there a way around it?

From what ive heard, the lastest versions break alot of mods so i would like to avoid that if possible. Or is that not true?

Hallo!

You must be from a completely different universe. I've never had to register with "bugdesta" (not with LE, SE, or AE) to install a mod (e.g., from Nexus) and then play a modified Skyrim... I don't even need to connect my PC to the internet!

And after checking with my wife (who uses PlayStation and Xbox), you don't have to do this on consoles either.

Yes, of course, if you want to use mods designed for SE or AE on a Skyrim version for LE, there will be problems... but what did you read or hear to write such a thread?

The fact that you have to install some tools on SE and AE these days to equip your vanilla Skyrim for subsequent modification is common knowledge for mod users.

Everything else here:

As far as i know we are indeed from the same universe. So dont get what you mean by that. I have a fully modded skyrim LE with a few 100 mods and it works perfect without issues without requiring any log in except for steam. Like you said. works in offline just fine after you logged in first time.

So i guess there is something wrong my installation. Since nothing shows up when launching from skse64. I was just confused since Skyrim SE have this "mods" button in the main menu that requires log in to even access it.

Since i only have a few mods i suppose i can just reinstall and try to downgrade the game....

Well, for me, the loading screen of my modded Skyrim AE version looks like this when I start via SKSE.

And "Creations" refers to Bugdesta's "creation club"—you need to register via "bet-net" for that.

The "mod" button only shows you mods from "bet-net"... if you don't want any of them, you can ignore them completely.

Because that has nothing to do with mods from "nexus," "loverslab," or other mod sites.

If nothing is displayed in the bottom right corner when you launch it via "skse," then there's an error.

Which mod organizer are you using to manage your mods?

The "Creation Club" was Bethesda's first foray into the paid mods marketplace.  It was retired in 2023 and replaced with "Creations" as part of the 1.6.1130 Creations Update.  All "Creation Club" mods are included in the Anniversary Edition update.  Newer mods are available on the new "Creations" menu.  Apparently your game hasn't been updated since all this happened.  Your SE game is trying to connect to the "Creation Club" which no longer exists.  You must update to the latest version of the game to be able to connect to the "Creations" marketplace.  None of this applies to LE since it was last updated in 2013 and is not susceptible to the intrusion of paid mods and Bethesda updates.

None of this matters if you're not interested in mods hosted by Bethesda.  In that case you can use a mod manager to install mods but many of them will likely require you to update your game.
