barjack Posted January 24, 2014 Posted January 24, 2014 3dsmax plugin has difficulty to export multiply meshes into single nif at the same time. So,,if i have an armor set, including 1.body 2.armor 3.pants if these 3 parts all have it's own different texture. What's the correct way to export it into single nif? I've 2 choices. 1.export them one by one then use nifskope to copy/paste branches and join these parts together. But I'm not sure if skinning and other data will be destroyed by this method. 2.attach these 3 parts into single mesh first, then export it into single nif. I don't know if this way will separate 3 materials. What's the correct the way to export this kind of armor?
barjack Posted January 24, 2014 Author Posted January 24, 2014 Thank you,I'll test it by what you said. Edit:Ok,it works now,it separates meshes into 3 pieces according to it's material set in the nifskope.
barjack Posted January 25, 2014 Author Posted January 25, 2014 I tested few times,,now i know the reason cause 3dsmax plugin to crash,it's materials. If you set your armor with nif material in 3dsmax(Niftools Shader),then export multiple parts at the same time, nif plugin will crash. So,,don't use it,,just apply normal max shader material like Blinn, then use nifskope to adjust shader later. Edit:Another reason cause plugin to crash,,BSDismemeber Skin modifier,The plugin i'm using only let me choose "body 1" and "body 2" ,i tested both of them, setting all meshes to them separately ,and both of them crashed the plugin,if i remove the modifier,,the mesh with normal materials(Blinn) will export successfully.
