Starfield - The Vulture - My personal review

Attention! Since English isn't my native language, I used an AI to translate this message into English.

The Vulture was one of the first mods to expand on the game's original story, requiring players to pay to access the entire story told by this mod. It generated a lot of buzz, but anyone who played this game from its launch and completed the short mission given by the bounty hunter at the entrance to Cydonia, realized soon after this mod's release that this NPC and her mission had been placed there to later serve as an anchor for Bethesda's experience with paid mods. Like it or not.

My three biggest complaints about this mod aren't even that it's a paid mod, but what you get with it. I'll try to describe them without too many spoilers.

The first complaint is the fight you have at the end of the first part of this mod, the free part. The location of this battle doesn't appear to be a shipyard for dismantling and rebuilding ships, but rather a paintball field. Bethesda usually puts a lot of care into the environments they build, with many details that make the action seem like a believable location, and that shipyard looks like anything but a spaceship dock. I think it was designed this way for the young kids who whine that the game isn't fun because it doesn't feel like CS:GO and similar games, but if that's how young kids find fun, then I want to try all the games they find boring. Maybe I'm being too harsh with this part of my review, but that's what I felt.

The second complaint has to do with the story we learn at the end about the Vulture. Just when things start to get interesting and we want to know more, the mod ends, whether we choose the peaceful route (there appear to be two peaceful options, but in reality they boil down to one) or the lethal route. The correct thing, in my opinion, would be for the story to end there if we choose the lethal route, but continue a bit longer if we choose the peaceful route. As it stands, I advise players to save the game after defeating the Vulture the first time, to explore the mod's three ending options and learn all the details of the story. After trying all three options (they actually boil down to just two), I opted for the lethal option and got everything the Vulture had.

And speaking of prizes, the big prize and reason to play this DLC isn't the story (unfortunately!), but the weapon we earn at the end.

NOTE: The video link I posted below it's from a small YouTube channel of mine, one where I don't and never will earn money.

The video below shows how this weapon is used, which, for me, is the third problem with this mod. The weapon is overpowered and easy to handle, clearly standing out from the balance used in the creation of the other weapons in this game. A weapon with that power should have terrible recoil, be slow to re-aim, and also slow to reload. As it stands, it's a weapon designed for new, whiny players who only do something if they receive a good reward in the end.

Is this mod worth the money? In my opinion, it's worth it for the anticipation it creates. However, if what you want is a good story with a beginning, middle, and end, unfortunately, the story ends just as it starts to get interesting. This is one of the criticisms I have of Starfield, and one I see some who actually played the game echo. It seems that Bethesda has also embraced the trend of creating initially interesting stories that then never truly end, as is the case with many television series these days, just to see how long they can hold the player's attention (and willingness to pay).

I hope I'm wrong in my assessment, because if I'm right, things won't end well.

Final note:  This video is age restricted because it contains nude bodies.

Have fun!

I replaced the video link, as the previous video had to be deleted due to an error in the audio track.

I'll freely admit I didn't read your entire review because I've already played it twice. But it's worth mentioning that the new sniper rifle can be converted to a more effective EM rifle than anything previously available without mods. That comes in handy for capturing targets alive. I don't care much about outfits. I'm happy with the ones I already have. I would say that the Vulture Creation, as a whole is ALMOST worth $7. I used my 'free' credits that came with premium edition which I ultimately paid for. The base Trackers Alliance that is free for everyone is hot garbage after the first mission with Roach. Very buggy and dumb mechanics.
